Best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, and today. We need to surge weapons to them and we need to allow them to fully use the weapons we are sending. The US still blocks Ukraine from using things like ATACMS in Russia.

Ukraine’s allies should have supplied Kyiv with more arms before Moscow’s full-scale invasion to prevent the war, NATO’s former chief said Friday.

Got to love how he talks about 2014-2022 as pre-invasion. I was horrified how we sat back and did nothing as Russia took Crimea.

well to be fair we thought russia would steamroll them and get any weapons we sent them.

Couldnt we have wired our equipment to blow up spectacularly if the equipment was lost? I'm obviously no expert, but it seems possible. Any military types know the answer to this?

indiscriminate weapons and booby traps are illegal under the CCW

ah ok. appreciate the info.

But that would have been bad for business.

In all fairness I don't think anyone expected Ukraine to put up the fight they have

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

If that were the case then I think the full scale invasion would have occured back during the annexation of Crimea?

That's exactly what this official implies: allowing things to get this bad after what happened before took either a supreme lack of foresight or malicious intent.

I've voted straight dem ticket all my life but I wonder now what that D even means anymore. Its not what it was in the previous decades and it not liberalism. its barely any defense of western values or being anti fascist and anti communist. I think Nato has similar qualms about us, and rightly so.
