08.10.2024 - Full Measurements

  • Prep: warm water
  • Brush: RazoRock 400 Noir SE 24 mm
  • Razor: Ever-Ready 1912 SE
  • Blade: GEM PTFE
  • Lather: Barrister and Mann - The Full Measure of Man
  • Post-Shave: OAM Oli del benessere sensitive skin toner; Phytorelax Aftershave scalp cream

-> 1-pass head and neck shave. Comfortable and nice scents all around.

Ever get the urge to use something after recommending it to someone? That was the case with me and the OAM aftershave toner today. I chose FMoM as my soap since I expected it to go nicely with it - and I wasn't disappointed. The dark and dry tobacco of FMoM goes well with the herbal sweet notes of Oli del benessere.

2 of 5 early shifts done and I already feel like a wreck. The new station is not bad, colleagues are rather friendly and interested in showing me things. The residents are way more demanding and unthankful than on my old station though. There are some nice ones among them though and that's the only thing that matters to me.

  • Brush: Zenith B03-A26 (B2)
  • Razor: Gillette Tech (Z-4)
  • Blade: V12 Super Platinum (3)
  • Lather: Stirling Soap Co. - Varen - Soap
  • Post Shave: Stirling Soap Co. - Varen - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: allMan - Refined - Balm
  • Fragrance: Stirling Soap Co. - Varen - EdT

I really should grab this brush more often. Zenith's famously break in very quickly, but I have a feeling this one will still get better with time despite the fact I've had it for 2+ years. The handle is perfect. It's big, but very comfortable.

Tue Oct 08 2024

  • Brush: Zenith – 506 N XS (extra soft horse)
  • Razor: Delolme – Le Thiernois №14
  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original

This is the razor that taught me that there's a "numero sign" (№) in the unicode spec.

"Le Thiernois" is France's equivalent to the "Solingen" or "Eskilstuna" brand (and, to a lesser extent, "Sheffield") used by small manufacturers who think that their own name carries less weight than the fact that they are part of the knife industry in a city famous for it. Nowadays, "Le Thiernois" with that same art is a model of Thiers Issard, but this one's still from before TI became the only known razor maker in Thiers.

It's my only round tip 14 which makes it a great autopilot straight because it's basically impossible to poke your cheek or nick your earlobe with this unless you do it on purpose.

The extra soft horse is a nice change of pace. The big horse hair bristles lather more slowly that boar or badger knots, but that also makes it easier to avoid fluffy lather.

Yeah, it's quite nice. Nowhere near pristine, but in good enough shadow
