Android means robot man. A robot girl is a gynoid. The gender neutral term for a robot human is an anthroid.

Don't believe the furries who say anthroid means a robot anthromopomorphic animal. They failed etymology class. A robot anthromopomorphic animal is called an anthropomorphoid. By the way, technically humans are a kind of anthromopomorphic animal. Yummy food for thinking.

that's a lot to remember and i don't see the point of it. android girls are perfectly alright with me 👌

Drag fucks robots too sometimes

[–] sneezycat@sopuli.xyz 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Anthropomorphic is only applied to non-humans by definition. So no, we're not anthropomorphic animals.

Also, android comes from "andros" meaning man, yes, but popular use has made it into a gender neutral term. Nobody is out there using the term "gynoid".

[–] dragonfucker 4 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Drag has met some robotgirls who called themselves gynoids. Drag thinks robotgirls should get to decide what the word for robotgirls is. Most just like being called robotgirls but gynoid is more popular than android in the communities drag has joined.

They're welcome to call themselves gynoids, I'm just saying that android is a correct term for anthropomorphic robots in general, due to popular usage.

[–] dragonfucker 4 points 2 weeks ago

Drag thinks members of a minority get to decide what the correct term for their group is. Drag doesn't think it matters what humans think the name should be.

I’ve really gotta congratulate you. This gif is high art.

this is the peak of human engineering, this is what we have been working for since the dawn of humanity, this is the end, the perfection.

There are enough rich, gullible people for this to actually be a commercial success.

The worst incel tech bros on the planet keep yammering on about how it’s going to be “over” for women once sexbots exist, like women wouldn’t be crowdfunding the damn things themselves if it kept these creeps from prowling around them.

It’s not going to keep them away of course, except maybe for the people so far gone they’re already falling in love with a text generator. When sexbots do exist for real they’ll just move on to crying about how it’s not good enough, just like they do now about jerking off and fleshlights.

On the positive side, at least some of them will also get ridiculously ripped off by vaporware startups that leave them with a sex doll shaped paperweight after they get bricked by an automatic update.

Drag has met a sexbot once. There's a surprisingly high number of autistic trans robotgirls in the otherkin community. Drag once met a robotgirl who was built for sex. She had lots of trauma and also BPD.

[–] Opisek@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Reminds me of the Rick and Morty episode with the planet ruled by females while the males occasionally get a sex bot dropped.

He did say anything...

[–] als@lemmy.blahaj.zone 40 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Hey Optimus, make infinite paper clips

[–] kerrypacker@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

You'll destroy the paper clip market, which would lead to economic collapse and the end of civilisation.

Except they were controlled by human in the demo so it’s more elmo lies

[–] TotallynotJessica@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It probably wasn't even controlled much, just doing a preprogrammed song and dance with minor tweaks if it fucks up.

[–] vxx@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

The dancing robots were definitely programmed like we do with industrial robots for decades.

The robot pouring drinks was controlled remotely. One of the robots even signaled to an investor that it was only a tiny bit of AI to the question. (I'm only judging the gesture, as the voice sounded almost like the questionnaire interpreting the hand signals but the Internet claims it was the operator responding)

Is that motherfucker pouring coffee in a houseplant?

[–] Aggravationstation@feddit.uk 15 points 2 weeks ago

No it's AI has to simulate being drunk because of the immense trauma it has to deal with due to essentially being Elon Musk's child, just like all of the others

[–] SsxChaos@lemmy.ml 14 points 2 weeks ago

Gotta energize the plant somehow

Those plants don't need coffee, they need electrolytes.

[–] dragonfucker 14 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

When will Elon Musk genetically engineer dragons?

[–] HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago) (1 children)

as a (presumably fellow) scalie, i'd rather not have him do that

[–] dragonfucker 3 points 2 weeks ago

Drag agrees, but drag couldn't figure out how to make the joke work otherwise

[–] Johanno@feddit.org 6 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Bad he would be bad at it. So it would be bad dragons.

[–] HatchetHaro@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 2 weeks ago

but i like bad dragons :(

[–] rothaine@beehaw.org 1 points 2 weeks ago

Could you imagine it, though? Imagine dragons?

Credit card declined.. The robot starts walking away back to the factory

Ha! I've shared this one myself on a lot of these stories

[–] ZILtoid1991@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago

IDK, I cannot trust anything made by Elon Musk.
