Does it still have the potential to hang every once in a while, so you have to redo the entire day?
Until that hasn't been fixed I won't try to play it on mobile again :(

Okay I tried it and am now in day 4 (maedowlands farm).
My first crash was on pierre when I tried to buy something (bad karma perhaps?)
and now my recent was during clint processing my geode, the animation slowed to a crawl and the OS insisted that Stardew Valley does not respond anymore (while i was perfectly fine playing). I was able to make a backup and restart from it successfully.
But it's a experimental feature
Just to clarify, this means you need to opt in to the experimental branch in the store?
Nope, You have to manually activate in game menu. See this blog there's guide to activate multiplayer.

Mobile multiplayer works pretty much the same as on other platforms, except there is no farm “discovery” capability. You can only connect via IP. You can, however, join a PC-hosted farm from a mobile device via IP.
