We all know you like to bite bums Ted. Don't act innocent.

[–] Nath@aussie.zone 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

We rent, so don't have pets. This is Cara:
Cara
She was a sweet old girl belonging to dad (and Mum before she passed). This photo is my kids saying goodbye to her - it was her last visit before she had to go.

I don't really miss her like she's shown here, but boy do I miss her when she was young! I could take her on a 10km run and she was so fast that she made me faster trying to keep pace. Jack Russells will run forever if you let them.

I walked Ted to Lort Smith for some vaccinations and bum fur trimming. He was a total champ. πŸˆβ€β¬› Never whinged or meowed, liked looking around when he was in his walker. Of course he tried to nip the doc and nurse. He loved seeing all the other animals in the hospital waiting room.

He is also overweight so he is on a diet of less food. Here he is home again with Bill looking over shoulder.

Ok that’s a cool shot. Is it bring your pet to DT day or something?

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago

It's DT pet day! To bring positivity to our lives!

Just wanted to thank everyone for their rather raw sharing of feelings yesterday. I realized late last night what my biggest fear was: that something so obvious to me wasn't obvious to a majority of people. It was rather isolating and sobering. upon reflection, ya'll sharing your shock or grief or whatever helped a LOT. So thank you.

[–] StudChud@aussie.zone 13 points 2 weeks ago

I still feel raw and upset tbh, like a horrible heavy weight sitting in my lower abdomen.

I don't know how to get away from all the terrible news to come over the next 4 years. But I think I might start by actually following through and deleting the other place, and then just focusing purely on my own life and this place here lol

You always have a space to commiserate and find company here, this is a bastion.

[–] Duenan@aussie.zone 9 points 2 weeks ago

Just take one day at a time and the chance to focus on other things.

While it's half a world away it hit me harder than I thought as well.

Treat yourself and make yourself feel better.

Look, feel free to ignore this, but have you had your glasses prescription (if any) updated recently? I've had headaches that were made worse by tension/stress but magically vanished when I got new glasses.

Probably an overshare, but I'm angryMy grandma is too far gone with the religion and political stuff, and I think it's time for me to stonewall her. She lives next door, which will make it a bit hard, but I don't want to put up with her bullshit anymore. During COVID, she got so into religion that she tells us we're going to hell for not believing. All day, everyday, she sits on her butt, watching YouTube videos about religion and people converting to her religion. She has not many friends, only goes to church and the supermarket, likes my aunt's dogs more than she likes her own grandchildren and refuses to put in any effort with my younger cousins because their mother chose to keep in contact with her cheating father after my grandma and him got divorced. She doesn't believe the priests or other clergy members could do anything wrong. Called Kamala a demon and said that she would make the US a communist country. And America will be saved, Trump is Christian yada yada yada. Absolutely no critical thinking skills whatsoever.

Gratitude thread.

  • Lovely sunshine
  • Cat snuggles
  • Compulsory voting and a generally sensible and independent electoral system here
  • I get to catch up with some old friends at the weekend
  • Summer fruit coming in to season. Blueberries for breakie, yum.

I just had that moment where a cat gets stuck with a plastic bag somehow wrapped around them, and they shamefully come to you for help.

Poor thing. But also, adorable lol

Went out for dins last night with fam + SIL. Nice place AUGELLO'S in balwyn. Place was packed and the staff did an incredible job managing that. Good pizza!

But turns out bro and SIL are trump supporters which came as a shock to the rest of us.

Back in the day around the kitchen table we'd get into heated arguments about Labor/LNP. Old man is heavy rusted on LNP (as in he'd leave the room if people we shitting on their policy setting). He just sat there in disbelief.

But this didn't turn into an argument. Just the sound of eyebrows being raised.

Everyone is entitled to their views.. but yeah.. wow. They're well educated aswell.

I'm not really the type to get upset with views but their views on the rona and now this definitely makes it difficult to think any better of them.

I just did a ticket at the new job and this is it. This is the sort of work I've been missing for the last couple of years. I don't know if it's because I was working with clunky software or what, but I just didn't enjoy my last couple of roles.

This should have the same issues of finiky work that requires high attention to detail, but there's something about this where I can get into a workflow to just get the work done and check it as well.

I'm not diagnosed with anything but it's like this work tickles a part of my brain the way factorio or one of those games does for some people

Well, I left it right till the last minute and am only now having a shower and dinner (because otherwise I would've felt like curling up in bed...)

But I have cleared out 90% of unused/expired things in my pantry!! and consolidated 70% of what remains (the rest I'll still need to use for a while). There was an embarrassing amount of nuts (esp almonds) I had to throw out :(

I've also cleared out random boxes in my car from months ago from when the new car stereo was installed. Recycling bin pretty full after all this.

Pretty satisfied with today's effort! This weekend's big cull is the clothes. I think I'm making decent progress. I seriously need to book a mover ahead of time tho, any recommendations?

Got a call back from CAV today about my application to have the rent increase reviewed, seems like it's about a 30 day turnaround. Well since shit has changed so much I said it's no longer necessary and to close the case but they were very helpful about checking that I knew my rights around vacating with 14 day notice etc.

I sent my intention of notice to vacate to the LL yesterday morning, no response so far, and CAV themselves advised that while the LL doesn't have to respond, if they don't specify how to return possession (i.e., keys) then really all I need to do is tell them how I've done it and then it's the LL's problem as to whether the property is secure or otherwise 🀷

Missed the opportunity to ask how exactly I can report LL if she starts listing the property for rent within 6 months of the vacate notice, but I guess I'll find a way to call again if it comes up.
