I'm white as Wonder Bread and I remember hearing my daddy give that second talk to my big brother, word for word. Being as he's white, it did work to keep him safe when he was arrested. For young men of color, the record shows it doesn't always work for them.

I'm glad we had sex ex in school before that class got shut down by the parents that wouldn't even be affected because they homeschool their kids or have them in rape-church private school.

I feel bad for black people though. I remember as a kid being at a friend's house when his little brother got pretty much this talk.

Except the talk starts at 3, when you tell them to go to a shop owner or an employee for help rather than the police. And then again in a few years when you have to tell them not to walk around with The hood of their sweatshirt up. And then a few dozen more times over the next 10 years when you have to explain to them why doing something in public that white kids wouldn't get a second look for doing is a really bad idea.
