But we can’t make police wear them and keep them on?

It's weird how everyone kind of forgot how Walmart killed the high street and town shops. To me they are as evil as Amazon.

[–] hddsx@lemmy.ca 21 points 19 hours ago (2 children)

Dunno. I place Amazon under Walmart.

Amazon's bullshit goes waaay past retail though. and they did to independent online stores what Walmart did to brick and motor stores, but even more blatantly and directly. just look at what they did to diapers.com

the real scary part of Amazon is how much control they have through Amazon Web services. i get a chill every time i remember that Jeff bezos controls one of the largest backbones of the Internet. like imagine if Walmart owned the highways...

They are worse for the nation, for sure. They have more employees on public assistance than any other employer, due to low pay, and limited full-time position availability.

"We saw you were on an unauthorized smoke break, Kevin. We saw it through your own eyes."

"Next time, we'd really appreciate it if you could hold your phone in front of the camera so we can verify whom you're speaking with while on company property. Outside communications are prohibited while at work to ensure safety of company assets. Thanks for your cooperation."

Why do that? With the Walmart+ app they get free as an employee “Bonus” they can legally monitor all calls, location, wanking time, movie preference, insurance, heart rate, shopping activity, dick size, sexual preference, emotional state, banking information, relatives, friends acquaintances, brushing habits, Tampon size, Tattoos, personality, unregulated thought patterns, favorite drink, blood type, medical conditions, Breast size, favorite breast size, lies, sleeping schedule, piercings, disabilities, underwear color, haircut, likelihood of deleting the app, pets, pet names and eye color.

So you're saying my Social Security number is still secure?

[–] stupidcasey@lemmy.world 3 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Of course, it’s called a social SECURITY number, would your government lie to you?

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 2 points 10 hours ago

They wouldn't not

[–] Sir_Kevin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 16 hours ago

It wasn't me! I was letting Becky borrow my smock because it's cold outside at the smoking table!

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 42 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

They really just wanna make sure you're not spending half your shift crying in the freezer.

[–] TransplantedSconie@lemm.ee 7 points 16 hours ago

But if you are, they want to watch it during their lunch break at Topgolf Rodgers over wings, beers, and using the driving range.

[–] SelfProgrammed@lemmy.today 32 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

Body cameras and the footage they gather are commonly advertised as a way to prevent shoplifting, but Walmart intends to use the tech for worker safety — not as a loss prevention tool, according to a person familiar with the program.

Doubt

They might be prepping for the food riots.

[–] tacosanonymous@lemm.ee 36 points 19 hours ago

This will surely end in the first case of someone being punished for turning it off.

[–] Sunshine@lemmy.ca 16 points 19 hours ago

Big brother cameras on the screens wasn’t enough for them…

[–] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 11 points 19 hours ago

i wear one frequently but that is because i live around a lot of law enforcement

they tend to need a camera on them even around their homes

[–] subignition@fedia.io 8 points 18 hours ago

I'm inclined to think this could actually protect some employees considering the BS they probably have to go through thanks to the general public. It shouldn't be necessary. But maybe in the society we have today it's better than nothing?

With the rise in mental illness I can see this causing issues with customers noticing the cams
