Okay, but people with the means to travel for leisure exist, and in the US it doesn't even seem to be a small group.

Seems like encouraging these people to avoid air travel, or encouraging airlines to do something about their emissions, is generally a good thing.

It's NYT, out of touch op-eds is their brand at this point.
- get rid of airline companies
- switch to renewable energy
- switch to airships
- give us enough time off to enjoy airship travel
I'm curious, what's the advantage of airships? Are they like blimps?
- most lighter-than-air vehicles are airships – so yes, blimps, dirigibles, aerostats, and zeppelins are all airships
- tend to be a lot more fuel efficient (estimated 8% of jet aircraft) since fuel is used just for propulsion not lift and propulsion
- as well as having some truly monstrous lifting capacities
- don’t need runways, can land in a field or anchor to a fixed mast
- biggest con is they are slow – which wouldn’t be a con in a solarpunk future, but in today’s society where we’re lucky to get two weeks vacation and your airship trip takes a week in either direction …
