Long running gameplay !≠ live service. Ladder resets for D2 and even D3 to some extent felt like extra engagement and a thank you for keeping the game alive. D4 feels like the devs just filling up the chum bucket for the whales. It's soulless and calculated like UX is focused grouped & phycologist profiled for maximum chance to get players to open up that wallet not enjoy the game.
