I don't see a problem with it, it's just for show at that point. Nobody should ever be shaking the hand of a GQP member. This is not a sporting contest, stop dividing everything into winners and losers. This is your government that you have now lost for the next four years and very likely, long after, along with all the other governments it will affect internationally.

What's astounding to me is that people think they will still have a democracy for subsequent elections. It was that bad, this was the time to act, and all that was actually manifested was resentment. It's not even just on the GQP side, people have been praising how Biden has been making this and that harder to change on day 1 - what does it matter when they will be deciding how many days they have from now on?

The people that shouldn't have fought did under frivolous claims and the people who should have fought had snow ball fights. I get that international bad actors wanted to fuel infighting and would have jumped at the chance of something they could have claimed "b-b-but they did it too!", but did they ever consider what the alternative they are now going to have to live through is?

I really hope I'm proven wrong, but I have almost zero faith left.

Should have slapped him.

Racist - Classless - GOP

In Canada we call the synonyms.

And Progressive Conservatives.

When Nazis tell you they are Nazis you better believe them. I did not know why people are surprised by this. Trumps party made it abundantly clear that they want at least segregation back if not an ethnically cleansing.

Every conversation about Jan 6 2025 I had with Republican voters yesterday was about how "Camela" had to read "something" and i bet that pissed her off. It "made their day" to see her look "super pissed."

Anecdotal for sure but about 10 people commented on how funny it was that she had to do something since she lost the "race". They aren't even gonna see this headline let alone care. They owned the libs and that's all that matters to them right this moment.

Kind of off topic, but what has happened to our journalism?

This essentially is article about a tweet and how others on twitter responded to it.

[–] youngalfred@lemm.ee 23 points 1 day ago

This is what news.com.au in Australia (Murdoch media) sees as peak journalism.
They'll regularly trawl Reddit and twitter for 'stories' and how the public reaction (read: 1 comment) is.

It's become a bit of a joke in the Australia subreddit to ask to be included in the screenshot.

I believe it’s a result of news corpos go “free” online. People used to pay for newspapers. Good news ment good sales. Online news except few profit from ads, so now you have profit less dependent on product quality (news). If businesses can do less they will

[–] teamevil@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

It's more about advertising than you paying for the paper. Always was

Common dreams isn't really that kind of site. It's a political blog at best.

[–] phoneymouse@lemmy.world 9 points 1 day ago

Have you seen Newsweek? It’s basically just summaries of Reddit self posts.

To be fair, journalism has always been shit since the invention of journalism.

A few stars always shine, yes, but the industry as a whole is garbage.

The liberal rags were in hysterical tears for 4 years of Trump and Biden is the only way to save Democracy and this is the most important election of our lifetimes and and and and

…and the leftists told them for 8 years exactly what the result of their actions would be, and they did it anyway.

[–] takeda@lemm.ee 2 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

I see though journalism in other countries than US and the standards seem way better.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago

Yes, like most things, the US funds a way to fuck it up. A country of literal fuckups.
