I remember this story coming out way back when Altman was kicked out of openai. Evidently shes been saying this for a while and his standard response was that she was in poor mental health and was either imagining it or making it up because of that. He comes across as a total nard and i tend to believe there was at least some dysfunction between them even if shes remembering things inaccurately. I hope the sister gets closure.
I was curious after I heard this so I did some searching, and I found a timeline (that was well cited), indicating that she has been accusing Sam and another brother is this for several years.
Idk if the assaults are true or not, but it does seem like there is some emotional abuse. It’s definitely odd that a billionaire’s sister is living in poverty when the family claims she has one or more mental illnesses.
I can’t know what’s really going on in their personal lives, but I do know it’s hard to believe someone preaching about UBI while wearing a $500k watch, letting a sister experience homelessness, and actively working to destroy jobs with AI.

Whether or not these allegations are true, I agree. There is something very off about him.
The allegations are over a really long period of time which seems like a weird way to go about lying about it
He built himself the perfect excuse: all he has to do is say her sister used ChatGPT and ChatGPT made that stuff up.

I wonder what the final damage figure was. As weird as this sounds, a more modest damage request would be notable. I am not saying Altman did or didn't rape her, but one can't deny the PR factor around this topic.

Read the first sentence again. It was filed in a US district Court. The number was converted to pounds for the convenience of the BBC's intended audience. The damages are in excess of 75000 so that it could qualify for federal, not state court.
