So far most controller/mouse/keyboard dongles seem to still be usb-A, so I'm not super against that.

Bit late and way more expensive than either of the docks I actually own. In fact I own two docks and together they cost less than $80.

[–] Bosht@lemmy.world 7 points 14 hours ago

Plus they're way ahead on the enshittification curve. I wouldn't trust anything from them at this point.

Yes actually. I wish they did not.

Sounds like you’ve never heard of open razor before

I haven't. Thats dope. My current mouse needs no app.tho, and my keyboards use QMK.

[–] Sciaphobia@lemm.ee 4 points 14 hours ago

Even without that Razer's quality control is dog shit.

I seriously do not understand PC gamer obsession with light and color pollution. Unnecessary lights are so fucking obnoxious to begin with, why optionally add MORE that don't do anything?

Like super cool looking light up PC's. I don't get it beyond showing off. I'm looking at my SCREEN! Not the dock or the tower. Why the fuck would I want these distracting colors flying around polluting my space?

Ridiculous. My stuff has always been minimal lights, black tape over other lights, especially fucking blue lights, black colors for towers and consoles, nothing shiny, inconspicuous as possible. Function over looks.

I was buying a PC case and was surprised to find out it's actually not trivial to find one without a transparent side panel.

I don't want to see the inside of my PC, ideally it should be hidden away as much as possible. My ideal setup would be to have the tower in a separate room with cables going through a wall so that only peripherals are anywhere near my desk.

The plus side of RGB is that you can control it at least. So set it to white or some other soft colour (or turn it off completely), which is at least an improvement over blinding blue LEDs. Of course, the software and driver support on Linux isn't perfect.

In any case, the gaudy stuff sells, so that's how they advertise it.

[–] roadrunnerr@lemm.ee 1 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

There’s a massive difference between rainbow vomit RGB and using a more tasteful soft color pallette. Ultimately just do what pleases you though! It’s your shit, if you bought 16.8 million colors you’re free to use every last one lol.

Let me guess, I need to log into my Razer cloud account or it reverts to default settings.

Feels good to have never owned a razer (or logitech) product

[–] stardust@lemmy.ca 3 points 20 hours ago

As far back as I can remember razer has had the reputation of expensive unreliable junk that breaks down. Not sure if they've improved in reliability but it's why I always stayed away from their products.

[–] jacksilver@lemmy.world 2 points 21 hours ago

I don't understand the appeal of most of their products, but I do love their blade laptop lineup. There are few viable laptop competitors with the quality build and integrated gpu (AI/ML stuff rather than gaming for me).

[–] TastyWheat@lemmy.world 6 points 23 hours ago

They can fucking keep it.

[–] turbowafflz@lemmy.world 7 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I wonder if this means they'll release a linux version of their software so the steam deck can control the RGB

and the RGB lighting is customizable via a dedicated hardware button so no need for extra software.

From the article. It seems they completely avoided that question.

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago

That would be really nice, I hate how most mouse/keyboard brands don't offer Linux configuration software.

[–] zante@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago

15 bucks on Aliexpress lol

[–] Midnitte@beehaw.org 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Wonder if supports CEC like the Steam Dock

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

As far as I know, only the official dock supports CEC. If anyone knows of a different dock that supports it I hope they'll let me know

[–] Midnitte@beehaw.org 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Indeed, but since they're trying to be competitive on price here, I wonder if they're competitive on features...

[–] Fubarberry@sopuli.xyz 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

True, but who needs CEC when you can instead have RGB?
