I'm afraid to mention my framework anywhere. The documentation leaves a lot to be desired, but it's honestly pretty perfect for a majority of use cases.

It even supports plugins and short codes.

Super secure as well so that's neat. I had always planned to make a post about it but the lack of thorough documentation keeps me from it.

That said, there are a zillion of frameworks out there and some of them are ridiculously cool.

Don't be afraid, just mention it

WordPress is dead. Those contributors have all been there for ages. Without them behind it and Matt continuing to shit where he eats, there’s no coming back. It will stick around because it runs a metric fuckton of the web, but I foresee it basically being in a state of super unexciting maintenance mode.

It’ll be forked and the switch will happen extremely fast

Yeah, that’s how I hope this plays out. I’d love to see a fork take off with a healthier community.

Are we looking at the end of WordPress the FOSS CMS as we know it? Feels like another enshitification plan.

There are many other FOSS CMS systems, and WordPress has always been trash from a technical perspective. It just was one of the first options in the early internet and consequently developed an ecosystem early. Would be great if it would go away so it stops sucking all of the air out of the room and alternatives can pick up steam.

This is my new favourite show.

Is there a good alternative with a huge number of free plugins and themes?

[–] sabreW4K3@lazysoci.al 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

From what I've seen, not really yet. There's a bunch of alternatives available, but not with the same level of themes and plugins. A bunch of developers are waiting to see where people go, but I don't think people will centralise in the same way. I have no doubt that a stopgap fork will pop up, but a bunch of more modern things will eventually share the crown.

Yeah this put me on the fence. How do we get rid of this guy? I would rather keep WordPress and just ditch the clown
