For three years, the Browns contorted themselves to match Watson's strengths and desires. The reality is he never fit in.

When I first got into the NFL, I was working as a short order cook in a breakfast spot in town. After the breakfast rush, we'd close up, and the other cook and I would sit at the bar, have some beers, and watch football. His team was the Steelers. I'd always mess with him by rooting for whatever team they were playing against, "Oooh, the eagles, eagles are the natural predator of the steel man, thus they will surely win."

After a while, I started to enjoy the games, because I was watching THE Steel Curtain in action, and by god is great defense thrilling.

So despite living in Ohio, I started rooting for the Steelers, and thank god I did, because if I had gotten into the browns, I would still be cursed to follow them to this day.

Thank you, Brendan.

I mean seriously they had freaking Baker Mayfield and forced him out for a known rapist. Just unprecedented levels of dumbassery. It's like the owner truly hates the city, and wants to watch them suffer.

One of the most frustrating things about American sports is that the person who is perhaps the most important to a team's success - the owner - has almost zero accountability to anyone. Bad coaches and GMs can be fired, bad players can be cut or traded, but bad ownership is nearly impossible to remove.

Ideally, the fans would be able to hold ownership accountable by withholding their money, but between TV deals, sponsorships, and now shitloads of gambling money, it's virtually impossible to actually run an unprofitable professional sports team. Even if fan interest drops enough, it just becomes an excuse to relocate.

Fuck Haslam, fuck Watson. Cleveland deserves better.

Is it by the hour? His signing always rubbed me the wrong way.

Just like how Watson rubbed all those massage therapists the wrong way
