When I see a game screenshot with a level above 100, I decide that is not worth my time

Numbers don't mean anything, if it takes 40 hours in one game to get your character to level 20 (endgame) and in another 40 hours to level 125 (endgame) what does it matter, it's factually the same

[–] Pacattack57@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

Why? That usually means there is a lot more versatility in the builds.

I don't really play MMOs and in single player games it means a lot of grind and probably some mechanics made just to get as much money as possible, for example gacha games where you can get the same character multiple times and instead they give you xp when that happens.

That are exceptions but they are really rare in comparison.

Lmao no it means you're going to grind that shit for days.

I already have a job I don't need another one.

Yeah for sure there's way more versatility in genshin impact than path of exile 2.

My god.

Levels are not the only expression of builds, there's tons of ways to build a dnd class, it can vary tons on gear, character personality and feats. It's just 20 levels though.

pathfinder also only goes up to 20 levels and it has so much customization possibilities i bet there are people who dont play it because there are too many options

and the more levels a game has, the less thought goes into each one, so more levels i think would mean less customizability more often than not

More levels does not, by itself, mean more of anything else. In one system you can get fifty different skills, features, traits, abilities, etc at each level and in another you get one attribute point increased by one at each level up. It's one of those things that is absolutely meaningless without the context of a lot of other information.

That said, for the joke, Asian games tend to use a greater number of levels, either with smaller increases in power or they just don't cap anything and let the numbers get bigger and bigger with little or no functional difference as long as you're fighting things scaled to your level. A little stat boost every level then a special power after ten can be the same as one level where you get all that without the other nine congratulatory dings that don't really mean much.

> Checks stats of both

> They're the same

So she's saying if I reach level 20 I can be her slave? Count me in.
