Gotta wonder if Harper still has any influence over him.

[–] ImplyingImplications@lemmy.ca 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Well he won't undergo a background check to get security clearance so I guess we'll never know who is pulling his strings!

[–] MyDogLovesMe@lemmy.world 7 points 2 weeks ago

If he does, he’ll have to pay attention to intel about how the US, and foreign influence is working to get him elected.

If I don’t know, I can’t be accountable.

You KNOW Harper is still active behind the curtain.

[–] StokedforLocust@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 weeks ago

Indeed; there's no doubt about it. He's chairman of the IDU, which works hard to advance right-leaning policies worldwide.

In January, he did say that Trump's threats aren't the words of "a friend," so let's hope he is working FOR our national interests...

I saw Harper doing some kind of podcast interview recently and the comments were astroturfed to the fucking moon.

Little trump jr.

So basically, anything that government is doing that corporations could do, he's arguing that they should be doing, "because freedom".

I'm unconvinced that with more libertarian economic policies, I will feel more "free", and that this supposed freedom will make my life better.

Look how well it's working in the USA! I don't understand Canadians who look at the swindling, oppressive, exploitative fascist shitshow over there and decide Canada should be more like that.

Freedom is being able to have basic services necessary for society to function without getting fucked over for profit.

WTF is this obsession with taking from those who have or get least?

"The more we let you have the less that I'll be keeping for me"

[–] eestileib@sh.itjust.works 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I have a bad feeling he is going to win.

Before it was a foregone conclusion. With Trudeau gone, and with Trump now president there does seem to be some hope.

[–] qyron@sopuli.xyz 9 points 2 weeks ago

Not Canadian but have a suggestion: throw him to the sea.

Interesting how all of this austerity stuff is pretty in line with Elon Musk eh?

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 weeks ago

Maybe stop calling it the thing they keep calling it.

[–] BreathingUnderWater@lemmy.ca 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Didn't he used to wear glasses

[–] ploot@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Yep. He reformed his image after everyone called him Milhouse. Now he tries to be a swaggering big man. Still no actual policies to help people though. He's more about the complaining and hurting people who are already hurting. See also: Republicans.

@ploot

Just drink piss, Pierre. Drink piss, all day long. It's the only useful thing you can do at this point.
