So real talk, what exactly is the angle here? Are these rogue instances in the links? Truly just trying to bait in the lonely and gullible to eventually solicit payment down the line?
It just seems ... weird for a romance bait scam. Average looking woman (though could be to lower guards), links to Fediverse service profiles rather than botted DM exchanges, etc.
I could just be being naive, but idk. There's a very particular brand of fishy to this, beyond the obvious. The other probable scammer I dealt with at least came with a sob story that I could see being more effective (end of his rope humanitarian worker in an African country, children dying due to lack of $ for the program).
I watched the stream, it was just a very long looped video of the girl in the photo, looked the same one day later. It seems like it's been deleted today. The Friendica profile also nothing extraordinary. I guess the scam should be on the chat, it required one more click after opening the site, and I never heard of this stumblechat, so I didn't bother. After some searching I can't find a lot info on this Stumblechat, it definitely has nothing to do with the fediverse.
She just sent me a third DM. This one had a different picture! She's obviously really into me.

It's not about respecting the privacy of a spambot. it's about doing their job for them. The bot wants their links and their advert to be seen by as many eyeballs as possible. Guess what the OP just achieved? Blur all links next time.
I'm kinda on the fence... yeah ditch any actual links, etc, but with a title like that to this post, it's kinda showing familiarity AND the bait warning. So... 🤷🏼♂️
I disagree.
Saying "this is a scam" with the links visible is more transparent. If the scam changes but the links are similar, it will hopefully raise a red flag for someone.
Blurring them does nothing other than obfuscating the details of the scam.
Shine light onto the darkness and document it.
