The first, in the UK, right?

I'm not even sure it's the first in London after a quick search.

Not every restaurant in the michelin guide has a star. Most don't.

While your comment is true, it appears to be trying to refute the previous messages, which are accurate.

This is just the first Vegan restaurant to receive a star in the UK, there are 6 other vegan restaurants with a star. And 14 other restaurants listed without stars.

Thanks. I really don't know how it works, so thanks for teaching me.

Eleven Madison Park has three for example. There are plenty more. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eleven_Madison_Park

Eleven Madison Park called, they want their 3 Michelin Stars back.

Looks like it may be the first vegan star in the UK. All others listed in the UK are just MG.

I bet the menu is normal and not trying to make vegetables and other vegan ingredients taste like meat.

[–] rishado@lemmy.world 10 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I mean you won't get a Michelin star by being normal and the dishes look very involved. but yes I doubt any of the dishes there are imitating meat.

[–] ieatpwns@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago (2 children)

Normal as in they aren’t trying to make tofurkey or bean burgers

[–] rishado@lemmy.world 5 points 1 week ago

I get what you mean but your argument doesn't really hold up. Pictured in the thumbnail is their take on "lasagna". Also no one cooks a bean burger expecting it to taste like meat. Nor do bean burgers ever really get any flak compared to BS like plant based meat, they're actually quite tasty when done right.

Overall I understand what you're trying to say but basically every high end restaurant adopts such principles.

Hey now bean burgers are amazing.

I'm more of a lentil burger person myself, though.

that's cool but the dish in the image scares me visually like shellfish scares me

That’s really stretching the definition of the word “lasagne”

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 1 points 1 week ago

The pale part kind of looks like it might be tahini...?

[–] jagged_circle@feddit.nl -5 points 1 week ago

Personally that indicates to me its a shitty restaurant and I'd avoid it, but good for bougie folks I guess?
