I have a radio station I listen to that specializes in this. But there are some games that work better than others. What first comes to your mind?

"For study" here meaning "to listen to as background music while you are studying?"

I've used Satisfactory and Infinifactory's music for that, both have kind of a "make you feel smart" vibe to them.

Distant Worlds albums are great orchestral versions of Final Fantasy themes. I use them at work when I need to concentrate and block out my peers.

FTL? Into the Breach? Diablo II, Cities Skylines, SimCity 3000, The Sims.

60 minutes of N64 chill tracks on yt

Honorable mention: Soma.fm

soma.fm not game music but the amount of vibes they offer means that one of those vibes will likely fit your study music needs :) and commercial free.

It's relaxing until the Guardian music kicks in!

[–] Rhynoplaz@lemmy.world 12 points 1 week ago

I was playing the Stardew Valley OST at work this week. That's music to get shit done at a relaxing pace.

How do you study when your entire body is urging you to bang your head to the tune?

[–] pslightlypsycho47@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago

Tunic has an excellent soundtrack that's one of my favorites for work music. https://invidious.reallyaweso.me/watch?v=nnvjKf_mRYM

Stellaris is quite good for that

[–] Shawdow194@fedia.io 5 points 1 week ago

Paradox games are pretty good (Stellaris particularly)

Portal/Portal 2 aswell

Solar 2 is also a personal fav but hard to find OST other than on YT

[–] VinesNFluff@pawb.social 4 points 1 week ago

Anything from Supergiant Games

I just make a point to remove the songs with lyrics because lyrics distract me.

[–] FMT99@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Depends on a lot of things but for deep focus I like the X3:TC soundtrack

[–] _thebrain_@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

Stray has a great soundtrack

[–] kiterios@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I use Wh40k: Mechanicus & Ixion

[–] buffysummers@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 week ago

Hogwarts Legacy (Study Themes from the Original Video Game Soundtrack)

A lot of the Final Fantasy games have Piano Collections albums. I particularly like FF XV.

[–] beerclue@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I listen to the Diablo 2 & 3 or Skyrim OST when reading.

I wrote both my bachelor's and master's thesis to Watch The Skies from Skyrim on loop. Yes, the same track all day for weeks.

[–] Shawdow194@fedia.io 1 points 1 week ago

My brain autofills in dragon roars when listening

[–] GuyFi@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 1 week ago

The Cyberpunk OST goes crazy, and the Risk Of Rain franchise has some killer stuff.

[–] tehWrapper@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Crono Cross, anything from monster hunter Tri and up.

[–] ObstreperousCanadian@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 week ago

FEZ has a great soundtrack. Also Sword & Sworcery.

Something I've been using during work these days is Maplestory bgm playlists. Reminds me of my youth, and have a very calming effect on me :)

Hey! Just wanted to come back and thank you for mentioning RPGamer Radio!

I've been playing it at work, and I'm really enjoying it. Thanks!

[–] shinigamiookamiryuu@lemm.ee 1 points 6 days ago

You're welcome :)

Uplink is a game about hacking that's got fantastic tracker music for it's soundtrack. Blue Valley is just great background music, no strong melodies, just chords and vibes.
