To be fair, MGM has been either in bankruptcy or teetering on the edge of bankruptcy for multiple decades. There was a period where there were no bond films because they couldn't find the money to make them. That's the reason the Stargate franchise has been abandoned.

If MGM hadn't been sold, there's no guarantee any of their IPs would be made or wouldn't be made shitty.
