The two on the right would fool me

but the cybertruck? Come on

[–] volvoxvsmarla@lemm.ee 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I gotta say the cybertruck one is so hilarious and desperate I'd spare it my rage

[–] ChapulinColorado@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

The look would have been completed if they had gone with “Totoya”:

[–] TedDallas@programming.dev 5 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Naw man. It's a Toyota Trondra. Don't mess with it.

[–] norevolutionsontv@lemm.ee 3 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I'm pretty sure the truck one is fake. If it's not they managed to pull off making it look like they pasted it on in windows xp mspaint like a pro. 🤣

[–] Codeviper828@lemmus.org 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

How can you tell? The extra jpeg artifacts around the letters?

[–] norevolutionsontv@lemm.ee 2 points 2 days ago

Maybe, but I couldn't really say. I mean it's a low res adjacent pic for sure, but it's just something about the lettering, I think. 😅

[–] ThrowawayPermanente@sh.itjust.works 15 points 2 days ago (2 children)

It's actually pretty believable as a Mazda

[–] DannyBoy@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 days ago

Could pass as a Mazda 6 from the rear if you didn't look too close.

[–] TassieTosser@aussie.zone 3 points 2 days ago

I had to look really closely cause I really thought it was a Mazda.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 2 days ago (1 children)

You gotta think we're pretty stupid to think we'll not recognize a cybertruck. We're not as dumb as you, asshead. That's why we didn't buy one.

[–] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Would be ironic if they then get targeted by a truck guy for "buying jap crap"

[–] simonmicro@programming.dev 105 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Well, that's fake. Nice idea, but every single picture displays signs of manipulation: Incorrect brightness values, compression artifacts (strangely stronger around the sign), mismatching perspective or difference of quality (sign is more clear than the uncensored part of the license plate below).

[–] ragebutt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 41 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Plus who would possibly see a cyber truck and be like “oh okay it’s not a tesla phew”. that’s gotta be the most distinct car since like the Pontiac Aztec or the pt cruiser (both of which were also ugly pieces of shit)

[–] ViscloReader@lemmy.world 40 points 3 days ago (4 children)

May I present another distinct car

[–] cmder@lemmy.world 31 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This is the real multipla !

[–] tostiman@sh.itjust.works 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Stop, I can only get so erect!

[–] Sylvartas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 days ago

It has more than 1000 hp btw. And breaks itself every few miles

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 11 points 3 days ago

It looks like it held in a sneeze

[–] ragebutt@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 days ago

Oh I forgot that. We never got that here but I remember reading about it. Truly terrible

[–] Philharmonic3@lemmy.world 73 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Don't attack fellow citizens who were bamboozled. Redirect your energy towards the fuck in charge

[–] PmMeFrogMemes@lemmy.world 32 points 3 days ago

For the other two sure, but buyers should have known better by the time the cybertruck came out. I have no qualms judging a cybertruck driver

[–] Agent641@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Proles don't hurt proles.

CT owners aren't proles tho

[–] Stegget@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

por que no los dos

[–] Furbag@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (3 children)

If you're rebadging your Tesla because you feel some second hand shame for owning one now that it's clear to anyone with eyes that Elon Musk is a literal Nazi, just sell it and buy a different EV.

[–] dev_null@lemmy.ml 40 points 3 days ago (3 children)

Sell it to who? Is this a game of hot potato?

[–] galanthus@lemmy.world 22 points 2 days ago (1 children)
[–] dev_null@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 days ago

Exactly what I thought of

[–] loutr@jlai.lu 2 points 2 days ago

Yeah, my friend is really glad he sold his Tesla last summer.

[–] Takumidesh@lemmy.world 21 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I think a lot of people are in really deep from 2021/2022 car purchases and will lose their ass if they sell it.

I also think 99.999 percent of people will have next to no reaction seeing a model 3 or whatever on the road because they are common traffic.

My guess would be that people putting these badges on their car think it's funny.

I’m glad I’m fiscally and technologically conservative. I bought my first hybrid in 2012 (after the tech had 2-3 generations to mature). I’m considering going with a PHEV for my next car, which will probably be in about 10 years or so.

[–] JandroDelSol@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

lmao who's buying a cybertruck in these days

[–] lord_ryvan@ttrpg.network 13 points 3 days ago (2 children)

"You gotta recharge sometime"... You don't think other brands do EVs?

[–] wieson@feddit.org 4 points 2 days ago (2 children)

Other brands have a universal charger, Tesla has a proprietary one

[–] lord_ryvan@ttrpg.network 4 points 2 days ago

Why does that surprise me, actually?

[–] OmegaMan@lemmings.world 3 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Not really true in newer models. The Tesla charger was adopted as the North American Charging System (NACS.) Pretty much every new EV made in the last 2 years uses it, and all of them will moving forward.

[–] wieson@feddit.org 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I'm not in north America, I think for Europe IEC 92196 Typ 2 is the norm.

[–] OmegaMan@lemmings.world 2 points 2 days ago

Ah that makes sense.

[–] Jimmycrackcrack@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 days ago

Even if they didn't, you generally recharge in your house where hopefully not everyone can see your stuff.

[–] theneverfox@pawb.social 20 points 3 days ago

Know what? I endorse it. Aside from the cyber truck, if you want to pretend, ok take that as "I was bamboozled". But the cyber truck.... There's no hiding that. There's no hiding the timeframe on that. You can't just call that POS a Toyota

Sorry, but that's a bridge too far. Deal with the consequences... It's just spray paint, if anything it's protective compared to the lack of any kind of paint. Take it on the chin

[–] son_named_bort@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago

The one on the top right is a Honda. I know bekcause it has the H, that's how you know it's a Honda.

[–] callouscomic@lemm.ee 7 points 3 days ago

I put Yugo on it.

[–] CreateProblems@corndog.social 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

If anyone knows where to buy one of these decals, please let me know. My parents bought a Tesla several years ago because of environmentally friendly ambitions and I'd love to get them one of these decals. I tried to Google it but "car logo decal" wasn't getting me results like this meme shows.

[–] TerraRoot@sh.itjust.works 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Try searching for badges instead, i'd sugest a mazda one.

[–] CreateProblems@corndog.social 2 points 2 days ago

Awesome, this worked. Thank you!

[–] ocean@lemmy.selfhostcat.com 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Who attacks them? So silly.

[–] XeroxCool@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

Somehow both anti-fascist left wing activists (paint, scratch, protest) and anti-ev right wing reactionists/"car enthusiasts" (scratch, cord cutting, gas pump-sucking circle jerking). Yet, Teslas keep selling and people keep buying, despite getting attacked from "both sides". I think it's a great example showing the general population does not give a fuck. The apathetic population outnumbers the voting population. The nearsighted self-interested demographic (tax, rebate, and fuel incentives) prevails over the shouty demographic.

It's vocal minorities all around.

I'm a pro-ev general vehicle enthusiast. I'm surrounded by Teslas. I can't knock Tesla for putting evs on the road. I'm still waiting for the real manufacturers to get up to speed. At least we had some good PHEV options?
