There was a teacher in my area who embraced that 20% and used it as a justification to let his students do whatever the fuck they wanted on Fridays. One or two kids would do something cool over the semester, and that allowed him a showcase to continue doing his job half-assed.
Work harder and more often to develop the technology to replace you, sounds good
So, by that logic, if everyone worked a thirty hour week, you'd still get there, it would just take twice as long?
