Summary

JD Vance claimed pro-Ukraine protesters harassed him and his daughter in Cincinnati, but demonstrators say they merely passed him en route to a protest.

Video shows a civil exchange where Vance defended U.S. withdrawal from Ukraine aid, contradicting Trump’s stance on Russia’s invasion.

Critics accused Vance of using his child to deflect backlash over his role in a heated Oval Office meeting with Zelensky.

Protests against his Ukraine policy continue as Russia escalates attacks, with demonstrations held in Washington, D.C., and Europe.

The kid should know that daddy is making other little boys and girls die because he can't steal from their country.

[–] meowmeowbeanz@sopuli.xyz 33 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Using your child as a shield for bad policy decisions? That’s a new low, JD.

🐱

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 7 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

But not using them as a literal shield yet, so he needs to work harder.

[–] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 3 points 2 hours ago

He still doesn't want to stoop to musk's level there

[–] gamer@lemm.ee 16 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

So Vance just so happened to be "walking his daughter" near a group of Ukrainian protestors? The secret service didn't have the capability to look down the street he wanted to walk down and say "maybe we should take another route"?

Or did he purposely take his young daughter near a polite-looking group of protestors just so he could have a low-risk confrontation as fuel to demonize his detractors online?

[–] glitch1985@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I hope to God she was wearing a leash for everyone's safety.

[–] YerLam@lemmy.world 3 points 2 hours ago

I hope it was attached to someone more competent than her father. Like a roomba.

[–] Furbag@lemmy.world 14 points 4 hours ago

I'd prefer his version of events, honestly. Why do these fuckers ever get a moment of peace? Life should be made as difficult as possible for them, for every facet that we still have control over.

[–] prettybunnys@sh.itjust.works 31 points 5 hours ago

Much better than families and their toddlers being faced with pro Russian missiles.

Cry me a river you petulant fuck.

[–] LonstedBrowryBased@lemm.ee 4 points 3 hours ago

Aw poor baby. You cannot convince me that this chubby man child doesn’t wear eyeliner

[–] IndustryStandard@lemmy.world 6 points 4 hours ago

JD joins the Elon club of using his children as human shields.

[–] bfg9k@lemmy.world 17 points 6 hours ago

I'm confronted by this fucker's stupid fucking face every goddamn day

Deal with it you fucking child

[–] Curmudge_john@lazysoci.al 1 points 2 hours ago

"Don't hit him he got kids with him my apologies"

[–] pyre@lemmy.world 3 points 4 hours ago

not a good enough protest if he can talk about it

[–] TylerBourbon@lemmy.world 1 points 3 hours ago

This is the price of being a politician and being a complete P.O.S. one at that.

As a parent this really hits home. I can remember vividly the time I was harassed, 6-month-old in my arms, when I cut off desperately needed funding. I was literally causing death and misery, all because I thought a ruthless foreign dictator was kind of a cool dude. If we were both threatened and harassed for being massive turd nuggets, where does it end? /s

[–] SpaceCowboy@lemmy.ca 5 points 5 hours ago

It's like you can't betray your allies and turn your country into a fascist shithole anymore. Well you can, but then some woke mob will calmly tell you that what you're doing is bad and I don't want my children being around that negativity!

[–] ATDA@lemmy.world 6 points 6 hours ago (1 children)

I really don't need to know how old his couch cushion is tbh...

[–] sloppychops@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 hours ago

Boys' night out at the local strip club, he turns up at Ikea wondering where everyone is.

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 27 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Confronted. lol. He needs to actually be confronted, in a deposition.

[–] SkybreakerEngineer@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Not the ideal version of "depose" but okay

[–] blakenong@lemmings.world 1 points 3 hours ago

Oh, it is…

[–] Sam_Bass@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago

Guess daddy should watch his mouth a little better then

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 79 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (2 children)

LOL, "confronted".

What fucking snowflakes these assholes are. I've seen the video. More like "asked pointed questions and I am too much of a gigantic man-baby to deal with consequences like that".

FUCK YOU and every single asshole that voted for you.

[–] rayyy@lemmy.world 6 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

Republicans didn't seem too concerned when a Democrat was confronted by a guy with a hammer who attempted to kill him, in fact it was a big joke with them.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 4 points 3 hours ago

Yeah, they proceeded to make it out like it was some gay affair, too, thinking that was really hilarious.

They don't give a fuck about decorum and civility and all that. They just take umbrage with their people even being questioned at all. They think the right thing to do is everyone just rolls over because they won in the slimmest of majorities and that this gives them a "mandate" to do whatever wild shit they want. And everyone else should just shut up and make themselves invisible. Fuck that noise.

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 7 points 9 hours ago

They always need to be the victim in every interaction even if they weren’t.

[–] aesthelete@lemmy.world 18 points 8 hours ago

Nut up you fucking pussy.

[–] WatDabney@lemmy.dbzer0.com 162 points 13 hours ago

Oh boohoo - somebody maybe said mean things to him while he was using his daughter as a human shield (or maybe they didn't and he's lying).

And meanwhile, parents in Ukraine are digging their children's corpses out from under rubble.

[–] hydrashok@sh.itjust.works 187 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Good. This administration should continue to be confronted and challenged on their stupidity. They are, and never should be, free from receiving criticism for their stances, and using the child to deflect from the real questions being asked is a cop out and completely on brand.

I bet the three year old has a more objective view on Ukraine anyway. The press should be interviewing them instead of JD.

[–] astronaut_sloth@mander.xyz 44 points 12 hours ago

I agree. Make them uncomfortable. Make them see how reviled they are.

[–] BedSharkPal@lemmy.ca 62 points 11 hours ago

Must be nice not having a foreign invader taking your kids away from you huh?

Must be nice not having your kids separated from you and put into cages huh?

You don't get to be a morally bankrupt Putin puppet and then appeal to actual morals.

[–] Gammelfisch@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

Just Fucking Dumb should think about the 3-year old Ukrainian children dealing with the shit from Russia.

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 33 points 11 hours ago (2 children)

Vance is a verified unabashed fucking liar.

Where’s the proof this happened? Where was his secret service detail?

Remember his fabricated story about Haitians in Ohio? I call Bullshit 💩

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 4 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Pretty sure you can see his security detail in the video. Most of the people seem to be elderly, shuffling around and you hear someone off-camera asking questions.

He's a fucking baby. If any of these grandmas suddenly had a notion of doing something violent, I'm sure "JD" "Vance" would have been just fine...

[–] DogPeePoo@lemm.ee 2 points 4 hours ago

JD Vance is a little colicky piss baby

[–] blattrules@lemmy.world 6 points 9 hours ago

Yeah he wasn’t in any danger, otherwise this would be bigger news.

[–] piskertariot@lemmy.world 86 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Children do not make you immune from criticism. If you're afraid of your child hearing that you're a collossal piece of shit, leave it at home or get out of politics.

Or stop being a huge piece of shit.

[–] dzso@lemmy.world 1 points 1 hour ago

I need to use this on my neighbor. Any time she gets called out on being a piece of shit, she uses her children as a defense and accuses the neighbor who called her out of hating children.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 25 points 11 hours ago

"Today while walking my 3 year old daughter"

Was that a typo? Or does "JD" "Vance" talk about walking his daughter like he would talk about his dog?

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 75 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

JD: "Hmmm ... Elon uses his kid as a human shield ..."

This is even lamer than his usual couch theatrics about feigning being "diSrEspeCtEd!!!1!!!". This comes off as Vance being this soft and weak couch potato who feels threatened even by the sight of signs. Considering how little concern he showed about Ukrainian children being "confronted" by russian missiles, he is now eligible for my prayers. He still have to work for my thoughts though.

[–] tonytins@pawb.social 37 points 11 hours ago* (last edited 11 hours ago) (2 children)

JD: "Stay back! I have a child." Raises their child up as if they were shield

Despite my… unpopular view on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

I’d like to say that this is nonsense. His street was closed off with massive police presence yet he deliberately took his kid to confront the protesters when he had many other options.
