Very new to leather work. First time trying to wet mould. I’m very happy with the result :)

Really nice work! I made a similar one for my leatherman and it was an incredibly satisfying process. I liked how your final color came out. Post a pic after a few weeks so we can see the patina!

Hehe it’s great eh?! Will do after it’s been weathering. I’m also making a couple of other things I will post soon!

That turned out well! I’ll have to try that sometime. I always thought I need some sort of mold for it. Did you keep it in there while it dried?

Thanks.

Yep, I cling wrapped it and kept it in there while it dried. I was inspired by Chuck D from weaver leather making this: https://youtu.be/pgoxc0eaLGQ

Cool. I’ll try that. Thanks. Chuck is my hero! I wouldn’t have gotten anywhere without him. I do very different stuff than him but his techniques, knowledge and tips are invaluable.

The back is 2.5mm and the front is 2mm. I guess that means 4/5oz and 6/7oz?

I've been wanting to try wet molding a leatherman or pocket knife, but don't have the right thickness at the moment...

Here's a couple thicker (7-9 oz) sheaths I've wet molded that I'm really happy with!

Ah that’s cool! Did one of the image links not render? I can only see the Gomboy one.
