I’ve had this tank for about 9 months now. While it’s been very beautiful, my background has been rough. First it was a simple foggy-glass film. Then I removed that to try to add a white one, which only looked worse.

But finally, I was able to afford a dream item - a lightscreen.

And damn, the difference is insane lol. It may show off the algae more, but it really makes the colors pop.

Thank you :)

I know nothing about this, so this maybe a stupid question. Do the fishies have any problems with these lights?

Generally the lights are for the aquarist and plants. The fish don't care

Are they generally kept on all the time or set on a timer?

[–] smartalec13@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I plan on getting a timer for these, but currently I turn them on and off manually. I only have them on when the over-tank lights are on, so 1pm to 8pm. Sometimes I’ll turn the backlight off early.

So far I’m not sure if it bothers the fish, they seem to be acting normal

It's.. it's a display isn't it

I suppose if one has a spare display, it could be used. I think this is a simple LED light screen, to make a colored background.

I'm more into a natural back drop but this looks nice. Just expensive and unnecessary. I do think it helps the aesthetics a lot! I learned this was even a thing today, so you learn something everyday.

It definitely was expensive and unecessary lol I won’t deny. And thanks :)
