Rules (2024-08-30)

  1. This is an English-language community. Comments should be in English. Posts can link to non-English news sources when providing a full-text translation in the post description. Automated translations are fine, as long as they don't overly distort the content.
  2. No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.
  3. Be kind to each other, and argue in good faith. Don't post direct insults nor disrespectful and condescending comments. Don't troll nor incite hatred. Don't look for novel argumentation strategies at Wikipedia's List of fallacies.
  4. No bigotry, sexism, racism, antisemitism, islamophobia, dehumanization of minorities, or glorification of National Socialism. We follow German law; don't question the statehood of Israel.
  5. Be the signal, not the noise: Strive to post insightful comments. Add "/s" when you're being sarcastic (and don't use it to break rule no. 3).
  6. If you link to paywalled information, please provide also a link to a freely available archived version. Alternatively, try to find a different source.
  7. Light-hearted content, memes, and posts about your European everyday belong in other communities.
  8. Don't evade bans. If we notice ban evasion, that will result in a permanent ban for all the accounts we can associate with you.
  9. No posts linking to speculative reporting about ongoing events with unclear backgrounds. Please wait at least 12 hours. (E.g., do not post breathless reporting on an ongoing terror attack.)
  10. Always provide context with posts: Don't post uncontextualized images or videos, and don't start discussions without giving some context first.

(This list may get expanded as necessary.)

Posts that link to the following sources will be removed

Unless they're the only sources, please also avoid The Sun, Daily Mail, any "thinktank" type organization, and non-Lemmy social media (incl. Substack). Don't link to Twitter directly, instead use xcancel.com. For Reddit, use old:reddit:com

(Lists may get expanded as necessary.)

Ban lengths, etc.

We will use some leeway to decide whether to remove a comment.

If need be, there are also bans: 3 days for lighter offenses, 7 or 14 days for bigger offenses, and permanent bans for people who don't show any willingness to participate productively. If we think the ban reason is obvious, we may not specifically write to you.

If you want to protest a removal or ban, feel free to write privately to the admin that applied the rule (check modlog first to find who was it.)

I like how Tesla thinks replacing their CEO is going to bring those sales back.

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 61 points 1 year ago (2 children)

TESLA would have to fire Elon, force him to sell all his shares (ALL of them), and fire all Elon's family from the board so the public in general MAY start looking at tesla as a viable purchase again...

[–] jjjalljs@ttrpg.network 21 points 1 year ago (3 children)

If he sells his shares, he gets money for them, right? They should be seized, and he should be put in a cell deep underground with those warning signs intended to communicate danger to future generations.

warning signs intended to communicate danger to future generations.

because you keep him on life support?

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

don't want anyone experimenting on his brain to bring him back

[–] orgrinrt@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Knowing humans, this is probably the best way to ensure someone goes experimenting like that.

Future people find warning signs and a sealed container. You think they would not open it just to sate their curiosity alone, and once they find human remains there… you know they are at most some hours away from inhaling the sweet air of experiments and discovery.

He gets taxed. Wouldn’t that be nice.

Even better

[–] slaneesh_is_right@lemmy.org 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Do they magically start to make good and affordable cars then?

[–] Jhex@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

lol no, but ironically making shitty, expensive cars is the least of Tesla's problems

Happy to see that Polestar has overtaken Tesla in Sweden now. Hope it stays that way.

[–] Joncash2@lemmy.ml 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Wait, polestar only now pulled ahead in Sweden? That's honestly kind if sad. If your home nation won't support you, how will anyone else. So yeah good, but this should have always been the trend.

polestar sold much better before they moved production to china, which of course meant tariffs for EU buyers. also, polestar's cheapest option is like double the price of the cheapest tesla if i'm not mistaken.

[–] sith@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My guess is that most of the world, including Swedes, has become more positive towards "Made in China" since January 19.

[–] lime@feddit.nu 1 points 1 year ago

probably. but the tariffs are still in place.

[–] jenesaisquoi@feddit.org 6 points 1 year ago

Polestar is made in china, that's why.

[–] 1984@lemmy.today 3 points 1 year ago

Thats strange. I see Teslas everywhere, but never polestar. A lot of Volvos too.

[–] lowleekun@ani.social 30 points 1 year ago

Impressive numbers with still some room for improvement. Thats how i like it.

The ongoing union ban on working with the notoriously anti-union company can’t have helped much either.

[–] alexc@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I’m surprised the shareholders aren’t considering suing him. He’s the CEO, and yet causing material harm to the company.

[–] Melchior@feddit.org 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That is why Musk has bought the president.

[–] SaharaMaleikuhm@feddit.org 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Not in Sweden he hasn't (yet)

[–] Melchior@feddit.org 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Tesla is not a Swedish company, so shareholders can not sue it in Sweden.

[–] hallunke23@troet.cafe 1 points 1 year ago

Well, actually Tesla has a subsidiary which is a Swedish company. But the only shareholder of that company is probably the US parent.

TIL that Tesla Sverige shares its business address with Techem AB. I didn't know that Techem is international. Thought they only existed here in Germany.

[–] xeekei@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Proud to be swede this morning. But it was really norway that was very into Teslas; how're they doing?
