Of course not, Trump is incapable of feeling empathy about anyone or anything that isn't him.

The only surprise is him admitting it out loud.

[-] lupusblackfur@lemmy.world 76 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I find it even more surprising he managed a single complete sentence with absolutely no trace of a lie contained therein...

Hateful and short as that sentence may be. 🤷‍♂️ 🤡

[-] lemmylommy@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago

In exceptional cases a sentence that is hateful enough does not have to contain any lie.

[-] TheReturnOfPEB@reddthat.com 11 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Trump is trying to get other people to say it, too. Like the way this post is sort of working in Trump's favor if that is his desire.

Toxicity is contagious as the song tells us

[-] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

How is that surprising? Saying the quiet part out loud has been his entire political existence.

[-] Guidy@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Hard disagree - him saying it out loud seems entirely on brand for him.

[-] A_Union_of_Kobolds@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

That's not true. He empathizes with all the crooks he's pardoning.

Cause he's a crook.

[-] jordanlund@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I don't think that's empathy, he wants something from them or already got something from them.

[-] FistingEnthusiast@lemmynsfw.com 81 points 1 year ago

The sympathetic message was quite obviously the words of someone else,

This is who he is

A vile, cruel piece of shit

Oh, he's a chicken too. And fat.

[-] FistingEnthusiast@lemmynsfw.com 14 points 1 year ago

The smallest

And a weird, tiny dick

[-] Gullible@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

Somewhere out there, an unrelated fear-riddled, unwashed, overweight, small-handed, peculiar-membered person is crying.

[-] boydster@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Well as long as they aren't also a vile and cruel piece of shit, they're just fine in my book and I hope their self-confidence discovers the boost it needs in these troubling times.

Otherwise, fuck 'em. Cry until the learning comes.

[-] dhork@lemmy.world 67 points 1 year ago

Trump’s remarks were a far cry from his statement in the immediate aftermath of Biden’s diagnosis.

“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis,” he wrote. “We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”

There's no way Trump actually wrote that

[-] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 15 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

It's always so plainly obvious when he ~~tweets~~ ~~truths~~ lies something himself and when one of his PR people does.

[-] TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.zip 50 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I believe that's the first unambiguously true statement that came out of his mouth

[-] rigatti@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

There have been a few. Like when he said he has the same temperament as he did in first grade.

[-] Dagwood222@lemm.ee 40 points 1 year ago
[-] cabron_offsets@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Pretty sure he didn’t want to fuck his nephew.

[-] FistingEnthusiast@lemmynsfw.com 5 points 1 year ago

Just his daughter

Well, the one whose name he can actually remember

[-] Dagwood222@lemm.ee -1 points 1 year ago

I'm pretty sure Trump doesn't want to fuck Biden either

[-] swab148@lemm.ee 10 points 1 year ago
[-] morphballganon@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

What have you done

[-] Pelicanen@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 year ago

This is the worst thing I've seen all week.

I love it.

[-] Lucidlethargy@sh.itjust.works 34 points 1 year ago

Lol. You're next, Trump. You old ass fuck. You won't outlive the majority of this country. You already lost your marbles, you chickenshit bag of bones. You can't outlive the youth that wants you and your policies gone.

[-] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 10 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I Really Don’t Feel Sorry for Him.

Yes, I already don't feel sorry for him. I'm 100% sure his actual mental and physical health - his most guarded secret - is very much worse than what he likes to broadcast. I mean listen to him talk, look at him move. Fear must be settling in at the back of his mind. There isn't many people on this world I wouldn't feel any compassion for, but he is one of them. He has consciously chosen to be the asshole too many times and on too grand a scale.

[-] WarlordSdocy@lemm.ee 31 points 1 year ago

There it is, I remember reading his Truth Social post where he was nice to Biden about it when it first came out and going "There's no way he doesn't say something horrible once he's asked live on camera."

[-] khannie@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

That was far, far too eloquently written to not have been a staffer.

[-] Rentlar@lemmy.ca 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Use ten words in your post without CAPSLOCK in a row if you're under duress, Mr. President.

[-] WatDabney@lemmy.dbzer0.com 28 points 1 year ago

Well of course he doesn't - he's a psychopath. A complete lack of concern for others is one of his defining characteristics.

And even beyond that, Biden's a special case.

Another aspect of Trump's mental illness is his entirely self-absorbed conception of reality. For instance, he wanted to win in 2020; and he believes he deserved to win in 2020, therefore, from his delusional point of view, the only possible reality is that he did win, but somebody stole it from him.

And that somebody is Biden, and since another aspect of his mental illness is to childishly cling to grudges over perceived wrongs, he has it in for Biden specifically.

[-] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I always remember that prophetic quote from some time between 2016 and 2019: "He will not go willingly".

It was either Mary Trump or Tony Schwartz; they both said things to that effect.

[-] xc2215x@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

Trump is a dick. Nothing new.

[-] selkiesidhe@lemm.ee 10 points 1 year ago

It's never the one who deserves getting ass cancer...

[-] jagged_circle@feddit.nl 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I just hope he makes it to prison before he dies

[-] SnarkoPolo@lemm.ee 8 points 1 year ago

Such class. Such compassion. What presidential behavior, from a true leader.

And if you don't think that's snark, I've got these genuine imitation gold coins with my face on them, only $199.99.

[-] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 1 points 1 year ago

Worst thing, the world is getting used to this. Soon (some) people will think that's just how politics works. Partial imitations are popping up everywhere.

[-] Jollyllama@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

Consider me unsurprised

[-] Geobloke@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

Royl Cohn taught him well

[-] moonlight6205@lemm.ee 6 points 1 year ago

That is cold. I wouldn’t think that even about my enemies.

[-] Witchfire@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

You have more restraint than I do. I wish only the most deserved forms of cancer onto Trump and co

[-] moonlight6205@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

I do wish a lot of terrible things but once something is real, I usually don’t enjoy it.

[-] Diplomjodler3@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

You don't have to enjoy it. But the world would be objectively better off without that piece of shit.

[-] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 6 points 1 year ago

Since he said he doesnt care that means he cares? Not like he ever tells the truth.

[-] Kurious84@eviltoast.org 1 points 1 year ago

He talks like a simpleton and they think this is better than Biden

[-] prototypez9er@lemmynsfw.com 0 points 1 year ago

I hope all figures who support genocide and war also get aggressive cancer.

[-] AmidFuror@fedia.io 2 points 1 year ago

I was about to say this is something Lemmings and Trump can agree on, and here you are!
