⛵ ➜ Not so fast sailor! Do this first

  • Use Firefox + uBlock Origin with these optimized settings (Blocks advertisements & malware).
  • Change your DNS settings to one of these great choices (Bypasses website access limitations).
  • Use a reputable torrent client with a kill switch, such as qBittorrent (Allows torrenting).
  • Set up a VPN such as Mullvad or ProtonVPN (Changes IP address to hide identity).
  • Bind your torrent client to the VPN (Only allows torrenting when VPN is active).

Im so confused as to why this is titled "Lemmy Edition" but all the hyperlinks lead back to the privated reddit sub. Maybe I'm missing something. I'll just stick to the rentry link but I'd think it's better off to just remove this to avoid confusion.

hello, comrades. thanks a lot for your effort. just to be sure, is this community maintained by the same staff from r/Piracy? i deleted my Reddit account months ago and i can't check it out myself... ^^U

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 82 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I was the top mod in /r/piracy, so ye

[–] cristalcommons@lemmy.world 16 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

aa, thank you for replying and confirming! :)

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 59 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Myself I moved here only and don't plan to keep /r/piracy alive. However some other mods are dedicated to being unpaid jannitors for spez, so

[–] cristalcommons@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago

that's very sad, i'm sorry.

one may feel unsupported because others don't have enough courage to leave Reddit, leaving you alone with this, which perhaphs is more difficult than moderating r/Piracy without mods.

Might even feel outrageous if they joined later only in case Lemmy is a success thanks to the people here, but i don't know.

i find you people very brave and forward-looking, thank you all for your effort <3

I've relied on this mega thread for a long time.

Are there any tips to see check if VPN isn't leaking anything when torrenting? Mullvad used to let you check with a magnet link they provided before they got rid of it.

[–] ober@lemmy.dbzer0.com 35 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Personally I use the torrent ip check on ipleak.net. You just add the magnet to your client and it'll fail itself and then list the ip on the site.

[–] DarkTides@lemmy.fmhy.ml 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Perfect. Exactly what I was looking for.

[–] ober@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 years ago

Glad I could help :)

Ivpn stopped as well. Let's hope this is not a trend..

[–] freedomenjoyer@sh.itjust.works 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

When reading the reasons of mullvad to stop, my guess is that others will follow

Fuckin missed you guys.

[–] Cheems@lemmy.world 12 points 2 years ago (3 children)

With mullvad not allowing portforwarding, should we be recommending it?

[–] Lord_Boffum@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Came here to post this. If seeding is important to you, and I hope it kinda is, then you need port forwarding. So Mullvad is out, or at least I switched away from it.

[–] imgonnatrythis@lemm.ee 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Switched to what? Mullvad was a trustworthy reliable staple.

[–] andymouse@slrpnk.net 2 points 11 months ago

I go with Njalla for torrents until I hear anything weird about them

[–] Cheems@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)
[–] Lord_Boffum@lemmy.world 4 points 2 years ago

I wonder if they couldn't have just switched to NAT-PMP port forwarding like Proton does.

Thank you for keeping the internet alive and well, comrades.

Be sure to save our Megathread for future reference without relying on Reddit.

Bit of a mute point now, isn't it? :)

[–] HectorBarbossa99@lemmy.fmhy.ml 8 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Will the megathread here continue to be updated, even if we go back to reddit? So that its the exact same as reddit where when sites are shown to have viruses they will be removed?

Also, do we know if the pirated games sub Reddit is going to make their own instance? or do we need to just look at FMHY and Piracy for it?

[–] sunbrothersco@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Our Megathread on Reddit (currently private for regular users), and the one on Rentry will both be updated for the foreseeable future 😉

Do you mean like this marked? i also did the section stuff

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 years ago (3 children)

yes, but why is this doubled with slight changes? Should I use the top or the bottom?

[–] sunbrothersco@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Don't worry about adding it in for the time being. I've taken his recommendation into consideration. Later on, I'll make a more up-to-date Megathread sticky post here so that the versions of Lemmy / Reddit / Rentry are all organized in a conhesive manner.

can you add some "otherlanguages" section? or some trusted websites for keygens, also for the italian piracy site, theres a list with some of the italian most famous websites, both torrent and emule.

https://rentry.co/italian-piracy-resources https://rentry.co/the-italian-corsairs

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Please type the section in markdown in a comment and I'll add it. If it's getting too long comparatively to the others, paste it instead in rentry.org and give me a link

[–] AlexanderAlexis@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 years ago (1 children)

how do i mark ? also uhm, they both are in rentry

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 years ago (5 children)

how do you "mark"? You mean how you use markdown formatting?

The links under section 1 link to Reddit, may be an idea to host those elsewhere?

EDIT: I missed the link at the bottom, looks like it's all on rentry.co

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 years ago

The rentry link at the end has everything mirrored

[–] jayesk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Would suggest Ripped is removed at the bottom, all explained below vvvv :/

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 15 points 2 years ago

ok but that screenshot is cancer

[–] Sleeping@programming.dev 4 points 2 years ago

Stared at this for so long, everything's looking pink now, lol

[–] hungry_freaks_daddy@lemm.ee 4 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Can’t figure out how to ‘save’ a post in the wefwef app. Anyone?

[–] 1st@lemm.ee 6 points 2 years ago

If you work it out lemme know, the “bookmark”, it does nothing!”

[–] Prollol@sh.itjust.works 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago)

Could you ammend the reddit links to point to old.reddit? The new design is just bad to look at.

[–] anaverageindividual@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 2 years ago* (last edited 2 years ago) (1 children)

update: ripped.guide has returned to normalcy...

their domain seems to have been hijacked by a disgruntled former staff member who deliberately ruined the site. maybe you could add the site back? it was quite a useful resource.

[–] sunbrothersco@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It's still there at https://rentry.co/megathread. A new pinned post will be made at a later date so everything makes sense.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 years ago
[–] halfpipe@sopuli.xyz 4 points 2 years ago

Thank god for Lemmy

I guess
