Is Trump's biggest fear that Texas will turn blue? Texas, do the opposite of what Trump orders.
I believe we have enough people of the political leaning in Texas to oust the Republicans, but only if they get the fuck to the polls and vote. Which they historically have not done.
It's probably been several cycles in a row that the Democratic Presidential nominee had garnered more votes in Texas than the Republican Gubernatorial nominee.
You know I never even thought to compare that. Turnout here is just so bloody awful.
Texas is 100% purple for the last 10 years. We need these rural counties to realize the republican party doesn't give a shit about them to turn blue. Too many Rs with their head in the sand.
For fucks sake, our energy grid is making fuck tons of money on wind power, yet the Rs constantly try to tear it down.

Gerrymandering is one of those not-talked-about-enough legal undermining of democracy commited by mostly* Republicans.
* are there any examples of Democrat gerrymandering? Or statistics, though I'm sure Reps do it much much more?
I may be remembering incorrectly, but after the 2019 Supreme Court ruling that federal courts can't address partisan gerrymandering, a couple of blue states (New York and Illinois maybe?) tried doing some gerrymanders after the 2020 census. Then their state courts struck them down.
Several blue states -- I think Washington and Oregon are among them -- created non-partisan redistricting commissions before 2019, so they can't be gerrymandered.
As is typical, the blue states end up doing the thing that's right; the red states just keep doing the thing that wins.

But holy shit, imagine if Joe Biden or (god forbid) Obama, tried to pull some bullshit like this. Unreal.
It's always about "states rights" until they don't 100% line up with their vision.
we know... It's already bad enough as it is. But to even increase it, with recent SCOTUS and now presidential approval...
I thought districts can only be redrawn following the census. Or when court-ordered to do so.
I think we won't see any rebalancing of the legislature in Texas until there is a Democratic surge that flips the state and federal offices. Probably a US Senate in a presidential year. That will turn Texas into a battle state for Gov, Lt. Gov, and AG in following mid-term election. Only then will we have a chance at districts being redrawn to be more representative.
