This is quite literally the plot to A Clockwork Orange.
At leat in A Clockwork Orange the point of the footage wasn't to try to persuade them that violence is good.
How did it end, again? I forget
There are two endings. In both, the brainwashing treatment temporarily prevents the main character from committing violence.
In the movie after he tries to commit suicide he wakes up in hospital and the effect of the brainwashing has worn off so he goes back to violence.
In the book the government undo the brainwashing in a bid to get him to support them but he later loses the urges all on his own.
He was cured, all right.
