Right now, I’m playing the early access version of Baldurs Gate 3. I’m getting ready to put it down (frustrated: BG3 has the potential to be good, but without controller support, I’m getting really frustrated with the UI. ) and switch to Yakuza Like a Dragon.

What are you playing now and what are you looking forward to playing next?

Mostly emulation. As a day 1 Dreamcast owner, the Dreamcast emulation has been mindblowing.

Most of the A-list games I prefer on console, so I don't bother with them on Steam.

I've been using it to play a lot of nostalgic games I haven't gotten around to revisiting yet, recently Burnout 3, classic Minecraft, and PSP homebrew. I hope to continue that trend by filling in some RPGMaker games I really liked, but I've actually been using it more in desktop mode as a companion for my drawing tablet than for gaming lol

Steam Deck install base: less than 2 million

Nintendo Switch install base: 125+ million

But by all means let's talk about Steam Deck.

Here we go again...

@Nintendianajones64 @cecirdr What's wrong with talking about Steam Deck

Hifi rush hades curse of the dead gods crash bandicoot 4

[–] spegin@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Curse of the dead gods (currently on HB), I thought Hades is a bit boring and too button mash-y. The stamina system solves this pretty well. So far loving it

Love my Deck! Currently having a lot of fun with Boltgun, having recently played original DOOM and DOOM II with the GzDOOM, and they're still amazing. Also trying to play X4, though it's a little bit crashy, seems to have memory leaks for days. Want to play Dredge soon.

I'm currently in Chapter 1 of Trails of Cold Steel. I love being able to play this game on the go (outside of the Vita version), especially since we'll likely never get the Switch port. I've played through the first 5 Trails games this year so far and I'm hoping I don't burn out too soon.

Been playing Diablo 4! Got to lvl 50 on my pc, but decided to try playing on the Steam Deck to play a little in bed and it surprised me how well it works.

Mostly playing Fallout 3 atm. Planning on finally finishing Skyrim on the deck as well. I've also played quite a bit of itch.io games on there lately.

[–] cecirdr@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago

How well is Fallout 3 playing for you? Did you have to set up a custom controller layout? I ask because it's been a while since I checked, but in the past fallout 3 wasn't a verified game. It's a favorite for me though, so I'd love to hear that it plays well on the deck.

There's a bunch of us at steamdeck@sopuli.xyz

But I'm currently playing Crash Bandicoot 4 on deck since it finally came out on Steam. It's my game to take a a break from playing ToTK on my PC

[–] poke@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm still very upset there's no PC port for Crash Team Racing. C'mon, activision!

Im currently swapping between playing Rimworld, and Tape to Tape.

Tape to Tape is a hockey rogue lite that playes like classic nhl games with a bit of Mario Strikers.

[–] manny_stillwagon@mander.xyz 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

How is Rimworld on the deck? I've seen that it's supposed to be "Verified" but it seems like a game with so much mouse action that it would be really annoying to try to do on the deck.

Also, how does it handle mods? Because I may have... one or two... hundred.

SD player here ! I'm playing TOTK and The cult of the lamb since a few weeks now :)

[–] slyecho@mdon.ee 1 points 1 year ago

@cecirdr

I'm playing AC: Valhalla at the moment. Getting a decent 40 to 50 fps on 10 W power.

[–] KJ118@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Had just gotten into AC:Valhalla, but then Diablo 4 cane out and has worked flawlessly, so I've been all in on it.

[–] Julius_Seizures@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Been running through a soul level 1 run on Dark Souls 1. Also love booting up some rogue legacy 2 or spelunky 2 in between.

[–] cabreca@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Everspace 2 and Mad Max. The latter runs great on the Deck.

[–] JoeKrogan@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Anyone running Xenia ? How does it perform ? Thats the platform I'm most excited to emulate.

[–] HER0@beehaw.org 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

I've been playing through Mark of the Ninja Remastered. It works pretty well after you switch to Proton, as the native version has some bugs and crashes.

Before that, the previous game I played through on the Deck was A Short Hike, which is incredibly cute.

[–] lem@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Minecraft and RetroArch

[–] DoakSteezy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Diablo 4 has been absolutely perfect on the deck once you get battle.net loaded up. Runs awesome, good battery life if you lower the graphics a little and limit FPS.
