What? That is an insane climb in signers, it was 700k just yesterday, right?

Amazing :D

Last I can firmly put my finger on was just short of 750K last night when I was going to bed. It looks like about 110 - 120 signings per minute at the moment, give or take.

At time of writing this post is 43 minutes old and it's up around 5000 signatures.

edit: The UK one is just about to cross 90%. Only 90 signatures to go. They are flying in. It has a nice realtime counter whereas the EU one needs a refresh.

edit2: UK just crossed 90%. They will complete some time this evening at the current rate.

There's a live tracker with tons of stats over on stopkillinggamestracker.pages.dev

[-] khannie@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Oh that's cool. The graphs show a massive ramp up in the last few days and it's accelerating.

[-] MentalEdge@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Yup.

I think we'll hit 100k signatures in one day today.

And if that pace continues tomorrow, we'll hit 1 million within 48 hours.

Let's hope there isn't a huge number of fake ones

Pirate might've actually helped a lot more than he hindered. I signed mostly to spite people like him.

[-] quediuspayu@lemmy.dbzer0.com 13 points 1 year ago

Pewdiepie's support might have helped too.

[-] Natanox@chaos.social 11 points 1 year ago

@quediuspayu And GamersNexus, Asmongold… there are a lot of people suddenly embracing it after Mr. Hall screwed up so hard.

[-] khannie@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Jeff Geerling put out a video on it earlier too. He has nearly a million subs, all of them massive geeks (myself included). :D

UK looks like it's going to cross the line in the next few minutes.

All it took was one of the most insufferable people on YouTube to become the enemy. I for my part am happy with that. We collectively burned his ego on the pyre and Fortuna accepted our offer.

Edit: Dude! Happy cake day!

[-] Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Oh, thanks, I hadn't noticed myself!

Up about 50k from ten hours ago. I think we'll reach the threshold in 60 hours at this rate, accounting for the fact that Europeans sleep for a portion of the day.

E: goal reached!

[-] veniasilente@lemmy.dbzer0.com 12 points 1 year ago

accounting for the fact that Europeans sleep for a portion of the day.

....they get to sleep for a portion of the day????

This is unfair!

~~We get shittier big block buster movies

We get higher prices

We made snacks more expensive than gold

We keep increasing the amount of commercials

Why aren't you coming?~~

Edit: replied to wrong message

[-] ProfessorProteus@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Assuming you're a fellow USian, this ain't the right thread, friend. I mean I agree that everything is shittier here, but we should be celebrating the sudden surge for the SKG petition.

That said, I'm so happy to see this much support for it. Wish I could sign it myself. Hopefully this is only the first step.

[-] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

I somehow responded to the wrong post here, actually. It was about AMC being a dick again with now having 25-30 minutes of commercials and trailers before a movie

[-] ProfessorProteus@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Ah, gotcha. What a boneheaded decision on their part. They should be incentivising potential moviegoers, not punishing them.

Stop Killing Games:

The consumer movement to stop game publishers from intentionally destroying older games with kill switches.

The goal is to reach 1 million signatures in the EU so that the european parliament will respond to the initiative that then leads to regulation that requires end-of-life plans for games to stay playable.
