@skg We're doing this, man! We're making this happen!
The push in the last couple days is absolutely incredible. I thought the initiative was sure to fail just a week ago.
@vrojak if I were Ubisoft or Blizzard, I'd legit be shitting my pants just about now.
It helps that at least 1 major youtuber did a shoutout about it in the past few days.
1m and 420 signatures now. :)
Nice.
we did it Lemmy!
Come on, you can do it! Best of luck from the US!
Just reading about past ECIs
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Citizens%27_Initiative#One_of_Us
There was an anti abortion one
The lawsuit remained unsuccessful before the General Court [...], handing to the European Commission a de facto veto right against any European Citizens' Initiative it does not wish to support.
This is an unfortunate precedent
It's at 999k now, good chance the threshold is reached today!
And another 20k since this was posted.... And 22 countries passing their threshold.
We hugged it to death 🥲
Mission Accomplished
@MITM0 Not yet! We still need a safety buffer.
Yes we do, let's aim for 1.2M
We're 300 away!
@drq @skg For context https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/c/skg
What's the context here?

Stop Killing Games:
The consumer movement to stop game publishers from intentionally destroying older games with kill switches.
The goal is to reach 1 million signatures in the EU so that the european parliament will respond to the initiative that then leads to regulation that requires end-of-life plans for games to stay playable.
