While I agree on it being a slur and don't use it, I also see the futility of the fight.
Right now that is the word, but "idiot" and "moron" are both terms that have gone through the same events as medical terms adopted as insults, causing us to need a new term.

We have a car where the clock adjustment (on the radio LCD) is controlled through the LED panel that controls the nav computer. The LED panel is now INOP so for the past two DST changes I've disconnected it and reconnected it right at noon.
