I know Beehaw were having their issues with lemmy.world and lemmy.ml, but I was wondering if they defederated with all open instances, since my subscriptions have been pending for only that instance from here

vlemmy.net has 0 instances blocked and is blocked by 0 instances.
You can check the status here https://federation-checker.vercel.app (if nothing happens when you click Check it means nothing is blocked)

Indeed the most based instance.

hey so the tool was showing inaccurate information for a while due to a problem i just fixed, you can check my other comment for more info, but tldr: if the "blocked" column (left) was shorter than the "blocks" column (right), it would show only as many blocks as blocked. Therefore if no one blocked an instance, it would show that the instance was not blocking any instance either. I have now updated it thanks to this conversation and it now shows more accurate information. Please let me know if you find other bugs.

Thanks! But idk if that tool reports everything though. For example if I put in lemmy.world, it says its blocked by beehaw. But if I put in beehaw.org, it doesnt list lemmy.world in its blocking section 🤔

seems i found a very big bug in the app lol. i don't know why it's there. hmm.

You can check the full list of blocks by Beehaw here: https://beehaw.org/api/v3/federated_instances

It is wayyy longer than that site indicates. When I published the site, I made it clear that it was very buggy. Somehow I find it being shared as a reference hahah, my bad!

Anyway, Beehaw does block lemmy.world.

I'm not sure how the tool works, but what it shows is definetely correct. And vlemmy.net is 100% not defederated from beehaw.org as I cross-post to it all the time.

Oh okay. Must be something else then in my case

[–] spider@vlemmy.net 1 points 1 year ago

It might be related to this.

The fact that Vlemmy has not defederated with anyone nor is it defedarated by anyone is truly amazing and I'm very glad I created my account in this instance.

Out of the loop. What are the issues at lemmy.world and lemmy.ml. Why are there so many (seemingly) instances blocking/being blocked?

[–] ExecutorAxon@vlemmy.net 3 points 1 year ago

AFAIK, beehaw does not agree with open registration from lemmy.world and lemmy.ml, and does not want to take on the added influx of new users interacting with their instance since their registration is closed

You can check yourself here: https://beehaw.org/instances and here: https://vlemmy.net/instances

But both instances list each other as connected.

Have you checked your subscriptions feed to see if posts are actually coming through? The pending status is functionally the same as the subscribed status from the user perspective.

[–] ExecutorAxon@vlemmy.net 1 points 1 year ago

For just the beehaw communities the posts aren't showing up in my subscribed feed, which is why I asked
