I miss Relay, my reddit app.

Sometimes it's really slow but besides that, it works and I believe it will take off as a successful project, Reddit can go duck itself.

[–] oranges@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Gerally it's decent.... I don't use it anywhere near as much as I used Reddit but I'm not sorry to see the back of that place.

It can be a little buggy sometimes, responses dont post or further posts fail to load. I think the lack of consistency is whynim using it less at the moment but overall, happy chappy :)

I find the idea of instances and being able to have a home instance while seeing others so great. It's like IRC with a server of choice and channels, but I even have the opportunity to see other servers, so it's a fun idea to me. Also Lemmy users are so nice! You're the best, and it must be a bit awkward for so many Reddit folk to very suddenly arrive.

I am enjoying out here. There are a lot of interesting posts and good discussion. However almost 80% of subs I am subscribed to on reddit are not here because they are niche subs. So now my browsing is divided between reddit and lemmy.

This is literally my first ever comment on Lemmy - been lurking since Apollo went dark. Going to try and be way more active here than I ever was on Reddit, need to start throwing more upvotes around too.

I have a nice little folder on my homescreen full of apps I’m switching between which is fun in itself watching them develop super fast, with great updates from the devs and server hosts which adds to the feeling of being in on the ground floor (typing this on Memmy, but also enjoying wefwef when it works for me).

There’s a real feeling here of “something” happening, but no one quite knows what it is yet. I wasn’t there for the really early days of Reddit, but I presume it felt a bit like this. The Beans situation was fun to watch come and go.

I haven’t built up a sub list of communities yet like quite like I had, so mostly just browsing All to soak in the entire platform, but that will come with time as it did over there.

Overall, it’s solidly filling the Apollo sized hole in my heart and in my day-to-day doomscrolling. I’m definitely sticking around for the long haul here - fuck you u/Spez.

It's a little routh around the edges but I love seeing how instances are developing. Also the vibes seem to be more united here.

Really good at the moment. I think i will enjoy a better lemmy when Boost will be out, just because i'm better in touch with that app for years now. Not that wefwef is bad, im also surprised for the recent updates it has got. The only things i really miss are a larger MTG community and the "Random NSFW" lol

I'm currently juggling 3 different apps to find one that works best for me (Jerboa, Connect, wefwef.app via Hermit, and excitedly waiting for Sync for Lemmy). I'm also experimenting with setting up my own instance to learn more about federation.

I love the principle/values of Lemmy, what it stands for, being part of a growing platform and learning about it. But when I'm just looking for mindless time-wasting content to kill boredom, I find myself missing the quality of experience, the communities, the level of engagement and diversity content from Reddit. Many subreddits I used to follow for "dumb" content simply don't exist on Lemmy, and I doubt it will gain inertia on Lemmy.

Now that I've gotten used to the differences I'm enjoying it, fills a lot of the whole left by reddit. The only thing I'm missing is the scale of the user base making some of the more niche subreddits I used to spend the most time on not have a very active analog here

I'm loving it, here is my slogan. "When life gives you lemons, make Lemmy-ade"

[–] KarmaBeatch@lemm.ee 3 points 1 year ago

Not sure yet. Still getting the hang of it. I'll give a few more days/weeks but I thin the promise is there.

[–] AletheCrow@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Enjoying it so far. It is definitely taking some getting used to. Was testing Liftoff! And now on Memmy. Finding Memmy to be more enjoyable especially with being able to set dark for ease of visibility.

[–] Tom2day@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I like it but still dealing with a bit of a learning curve. I expected some glitches and slow downs so that hasn't really bothered me. Looking forward to watching the platform evolve and take shape as I learn more.

Pretty damn confusing. So far I’m not liking it. I can’t find the type of subs I followed on Reddit and yeah idk man

My biggest pain point right now is the bugs. I tried posting a rather long reply to something and got a "Beehaw is down for maintenance" message. I'm not sure if it was the instance or my app (Connect), but I ended up losing the post.

Having said that, I really am enjoying my time here. People seem nice and welcoming, and engagement is good. I'm looking forward to seeing how things progress.

I am using one of the top iPhone apps, that is openly being feverishly upgraded, and wow do I still miss Apollo.

Lemmy is OK, just not a lot of niche subs yet. If there were more people active here it would be fine.

[–] RomanRoy@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Just fine. Spent last week editing all my comments with PDS. On Monday, I deleted my account and I'm only here so far.

Social media in general has been shit. Not that they ever were very good, but it seems to be worse.
