The hotel pictured is called ‘New York, New York’

Since Apollo was shutdown, and I switched to Lemmy full time, I’ve tried almost all the new clients that have popped up and it’s been awesome to see the speed at which they’ve all come along. Amazing work from a community of talented Devs.

At first, I was super excited by Wefwef - the idea of a PWA client was awesome and it looked great. Unfortunately I had issues with content not refreshing and I’d scroll through the same posts over and over. I’ve recently settled into Memmy, which I think is the best overall experience right now and the one I’ve been recommending to Reddit and Apollo refugees.

But if the first beta of Lemma is anything to go by, then this will be the go-to Lemmy experience for iOS, and I’m really excited to see how it develops over the coming weeks - amazing work OP. The UI is familiar, simple, and clean. The enhanced media viewer sounds like it’s going to be the biggest differentiator out of the gate. And the ‘Discover’ page on first setup will be a game changer for those new to the platform looking for Communities to join, rather than lurking on ‘All’ as I’ve been doing since joining.

OP, please let us all know what sort of feedback you need to keep this up! And thank you!

Enjoy Lemma everyone.

He says it’s a closed beta, so I assume it’s so you can be contacted with the TestFlight link, and then perhaps to cross reference your Apple ID/iCloud in TestFlight to verify the right people have accessed the Beta?

I don’t know, I’m just guessing. Hopefully OP will clarify.

If you log onto your instance in-browser you can hide NSFW content completely, not just blur it. This setting then persists across whatever client you use now or in future. Like you could on Reddit.

I’ve done this for what will now be my “main” username (this account), to make it literally safe for work, and then, like I did over there, have a secondary account with NSFW allowed on for.. y’no… science.

Hope this helps:)

This is literally my first ever comment on Lemmy - been lurking since Apollo went dark. Going to try and be way more active here than I ever was on Reddit, need to start throwing more upvotes around too.

I have a nice little folder on my homescreen full of apps I’m switching between which is fun in itself watching them develop super fast, with great updates from the devs and server hosts which adds to the feeling of being in on the ground floor (typing this on Memmy, but also enjoying wefwef when it works for me).

There’s a real feeling here of “something” happening, but no one quite knows what it is yet. I wasn’t there for the really early days of Reddit, but I presume it felt a bit like this. The Beans situation was fun to watch come and go.

I haven’t built up a sub list of communities yet like quite like I had, so mostly just browsing All to soak in the entire platform, but that will come with time as it did over there.

Overall, it’s solidly filling the Apollo sized hole in my heart and in my day-to-day doomscrolling. I’m definitely sticking around for the long haul here - fuck you u/Spez.
