Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Those Epstein files must really be bad for him if he's throwing this out as a distraction.

[–] TheCleric@lemmy.org 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Exactly. He’s even trying empathy and basic humanity as means to change the topic

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Empathy is the VERY last tool in a grifter's toolbox.

He must be freaking the fuck out.

I honestly don't believe Trump is capable of feeling 'troubled' by anything other than his own problems. If this results in aid actually getting to Gaza, though, it's a net positive, whatever his motivations.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 18 points 1 year ago

Prompting him to pretend to push for more aid.

Trump cares only for Trump.

In a rare public rebuke, Trump said Monday that he does not agree with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's assessment that no one is starving in Gaza.
"Based on television, I would say not particularly," Trump said. "Because those children look very hungry.”

Based. On. Television.

"I can unequivocally say that what happened to innocent people in Israel on Oct 7th was horrific," Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., a close Trump ally, wrote Sunday on X. "Just as I can unequivocally say that what has been happening to innocent people and children in Gaza is horrific. This war and humanitarian crisis must end!"

Hate to agree with this ****, but this is exactly correct. This is the issue with politics becoming so polarized. People are choosing their team over reality. Republicans (mostly) are choosing party and power over morality.

I'm not holding my breath. He does not give a shit about starving children. Someone made a deal with Trump - feed the kids and we'll buy more from the US - or something.

This guy is dead set on turning Gaza into a golf resort. https://time.com/7212848/trump-gaza-own/

That's the con - defund and delegitimize until all that's left is rubble. Then you buy what's left at a fractions of a penny on the dollar.

However, if this action increases his popularity and gets his followers to push him towards doing more for humanitarian aid, that's a huge step in the right direction. Maybe we could get more funds for FEMA and NOAA.

Bruh...

This is one time "both sides" are valid. A shit ton of lifelong dem voters were fine when Biden was doing the genocide, and changed minds as soon as it was trump. They were/are blindly supporting their team.

I've said since Biden was still in office: he has no line, he will let Israel do anything it wants.

trump is fine with horrible shit from anyone if he feels he's getting something. It's why Bibi supporting trump never made any sense. He gains nothing because there was nothing Biden/Kamala wouldnt let him do.

Support for Israel isn't popular among either parties voters, but it's popular with the vast majority of elected politicians from both parties.

This isn't the only item of policy like that the majority of the progressive platform is that stuff: things voters want but politicians are bribed to never let happen

Luckily, the DNC final cares more about votes than donations again

Sure.

How long ago was it he ordered a million pounds of food burned?

[–] Chainweasel@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

He'll stop giving a shit about Gaza as soon as people stop talking about the Trumpstein files.

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 year ago

So don’t stop talking about them!

[–] tonytins@pawb.social 10 points 1 year ago

Press X to Doubt.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 5 points 1 year ago

Trump could go on to cure cancer, end world hunger, and usher us unto the stars and he'd still be a felon rapist traitor pedo.

[–] griff@lemmings.world 2 points 1 year ago

Master of Empathy, him

[–] Evil_Shrubbery@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 year ago

Why would the idf need aid?? (I can't really understand he didn't mean/say that)

[–] Nougat@fedia.io 2 points 1 year ago

More aid means more Gazans going to aid stations means more targets for the IDF.
