I'm making a fake operating system interface in Godot called GodotOS. Here's a sneak peek!

This is around 4 days of work. GodotOS is a proof of concept so I can learn more about Godot's UI systems. It's going very well so far. Right now you can open, minimize, and close windows while browsing folders and text files in user://files/.

My next goal (aside from adding more functionality) is to have viewports in windows so you can play games in your game.

It reminds me of WinXP Solitaire with it's winning sequence: https://youtu.be/_hNwHdzRKXE?si=xAz2uu91V7gjL4i2 Error windows and windows in general followed a close diagonal pattern there, so this Windows version is all in cascades in my memory. White cascades over the evergreen hill.

Wow. It would be cool to have games with semi-functional computers.

And you are at least 10 times more productive than I am.

You are out of your mind. This is so sick. 4 days of work and it's already coming together really well. Appreciate you sharing your work. Hope it keeps you motivated

This brought back some memories… Spent a significant part of my childhood years doing something very similar to this but using Game Maker instead. There were even a couple of forums for people doing the same thing as me.

Neat. Could be the basis for something like LastCall BBS.

First unity, then godotos.

The only thing missing is unrealengineos
