Do you ride with a camera? Which one? How do you mount it? Do you like it?

I have been considering going a couple different routes:

  • I have an HJC helmet so I could go for their built in solution (add on) but there are limited reviews for it
  • My bike integrates with the GoPro but an older model. So I'd be investing in slightly older tech. Then I could go for a chin mount or a chest mount.
  • I've also seen good things about 360 cameras. No experience with it though

I have an HJC helmet as well, and didn't know about the camera. It looks interesting, albeit looking a little goofy. Right now i'm using an Amazon GoPro clone on a handlebar mount. A little clunky. Still looking for the solution. Maybe the Insta360?...but $$$$$

Been a while since I have, but to clarify:

What are you looking for?

Chronicling adventures? Dash cam for liability? 360 for social media clips? Or something else?

I have a Gopro mount on my Adv helmet, strapped near the front. I record every time I go out, but rarely get anything interesting to post to youtube.

Still rockin my Contour Roam 2 - the tube design is perfect for side mounting on my helmet and it's fine for filming both for documenting fun rides and capturing idiots on the road. Shame they went out of business.

I miss this camera so much! Mine finally died a few years ago.

Dreading the day mine fails…it's been a trooper.

On the bike I have an INNOVV K3 front and rear camera system, On my Shoei RF-1400 helmet, I have a chin mounted Runcam Thumb pro powered by a power bank via a USB cable that runs into my jacket. I'm relatively new to getting back on a motorcycle, but I've had dashcams in my cars for years and have learned firsthand how they can be a valuable asset.

I mounted a dashcam with front and rear camera; brand is VSYSTO, quality is decent but not good at night. I did put the main unit under the seat, so the sound is not great from there, but it will turn on and off with the bike. The cameras have a very strong glue but I put some safety zipties around in case the glue fail. Since my bike don't have much fairings to hide stuff (2022 SV 650) I had to pass them behind some very little passages around and I have to find a decent fix for the rear camera cable that is just hanging a bit out of the bike.

I use a Motorcross helmet and goggles as I find them more convenient and comfortable. I have a GoPro style action camera that I mount underneath the brim of the helmet. It's pretty much only there as a dashcam; when the card fills I format it.

I used to use a Drift Ghost mounted to my helmet via stick on mount. Picture was pretty good, decent battery life, rubbish sound.

My partner used a TomTom camera which was really good. Better than the Drift in almost every way. Don't think they make it anymore.

If I was doing this now, I'd look to have a mounted front and back camera, like the Thinkware, rather than something on my helmet.

No but I have looked into getting one. twice I've had people in trucks on a corner try and come into my lane and push me out. yes I'm riding in the dominant lane position.

someone recommended the ghost but they're hard to come by in Canada.

I am open to suggestions though.
