King Midas is an old ass story.. these people have been around and others have been warning about them for a long time.

I'm reminded of an episode of The Drew Carey Show I saw decades ago. I want to say it was the cold open. Aliens take over his workplace. They tell him they're going to make him work slavish hours at a small salary. He considers the first second and ask how long for lunch? Aliens answer 30 minutes or something. He shoots, them with the laser gun he was hiding I think I don't remember, says nobody takes my hour lunch.
Watched this recently and you're spot on.
