What has Poland to do with any genocide?

[–] rzadkie@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Repressions on Ukrainians during 1930's could - and should - be considered genocidal. Then there's the rest of Kresy with forced polonisation of Belarusians and tutejszych

[–] lemmus@szmer.info 2 points 10 months ago

You are delusional here. Repressions is not genocide, and its UKRAINIANS who did genocide on Poles in 1943. Read it, cuz you tell absolute lies: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massacres_of_Poles_in_Volhynia_and_Eastern_Galicia

Clearly Poles got again not repressioned - they got massively murdered with cold blood and with special cruelty. Read what Ukrainians did to Poles and tell me when Poles did the same to anyone.

Ask the Polish collaborators at the operation Reinhardt camps.

[–] lemmus@szmer.info -1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

Who was leading the operation? Not Poles - GERMANS, no Pole would invent and finalize such idea. You talk about repressioned collaborators (also COLLABORATORS, not the whole hq or country) you know nothing yet you wanna blame the good guys. I'm curious if you would not collaborate while having a pistol pointed on your head. Think before writing cuz you just gave me example of GERMAN operation.

Although historians say the Holy Cross Mountains Brigade collaborated with the Nazis, a representative of the veterans, Jan Józef Kasprzyk, sought to deny such a link.

Kasprzyk described the claims of collaboration as a product of postwar communist propaganda meant to smear the unit’s legacy.

The official rehabilitation of the brigade began when Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki honored its members at a cemetery in Munich in February 2018.

Morawiecki asserted at a news conference the same day that there were some “Jewish perpetrators” of the Holocaust.

Hahaha you self-destroyed any of your arguments. You are basically giving me a shit press which collaborated with nazis blaming Poles to collaborate with nazis. You better watch yourself at what you feed your brain with, cuz this shit is definitely not good. I have a feeling that I'm talking to flat-earther, no joke. They did not even link ANY source, none, they just manipulated the reality to make you believe what you believe. Crazy. Here, just see the "controversies" tab: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Associated_Press

You're demonstrating the effect of nationalism to the human brain. I don't really care that you're aligned with Polish nationalist historical revisionists (far right obviously), I'm adding the context for everyone else to see.

However, the Finnish air force began using it many years before the birth of Nazi Germany,

[–] davel@lemmy.ml 14 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Yes, because Count Eric von Rosen introduced it to the Finns first. von Rosen was Hermann Göring’s brother-in-law.

[–] ThirdConsul@lemmy.ml 0 points 10 months ago (1 children)

The article you linked says

Göring had noted the swastika during his stay in Sweden and at von Rosens' castle (forged into a metal piece at the fireplace). However, the swastika of the German Nazi party had been adopted already in 1920, two years before Göring met Adolf Hitler.

Seems like a case of multiple shitheads liking the same symbol independently?

[–] mathemachristian@lemmy.ml 8 points 10 months ago

Now why would a count van rosen, who hosts hermann göring in his castle before the nazis even have any power, be taken to the swastika?

Just one of those random coincidences I'm sure...

[–] Noite_Etion@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

Yeah! And what did Australia do... Oh wait.

[–] piwakawakas 2 points 10 months ago

I was looking thinking that's the Indonesian flag. Then noticed Poland next to Australia

Finland? Fuckign ukraine?

This is peak "everyobe is Bad, ukrainians are Nazis!! 1!!, russia is greatest!! 1!"

[–] bad_news@lemmy.billiam.net 0 points 10 months ago

Uh, Ukraine is literally a dictatorship that doesn't have elections and is being bombed into dirt. I wouldn't want to live there. It actually is also pretty full of Nazis, they're just weird Nazis who during the initial occupation of Ukraine decided the Germans were generally right, but actually Ukrainians were the closest race to the OG lilly white Aryans. I've seen paintings of historical Ukrainian Nazis on the wall behind Ukrainians being interviewed on PBS Newshour. Russia should abide by the internationally legal borders (like Israel) and stop murdering civilians en masse (like Israel) but the original Nazis killing ethnic Russians pretext for its invasion is no more fake than October 7th, which in no way is a defense of either evil state or their actions in retaliation.

[–] Droggelbecher@lemmy.world -1 points 10 months ago

Knowing the template, this actually does make sense. The first three are ones where it's super clear that you'd have to be quite stupid to fall for it. Then the fourth one, a lot of people wouldn't immediately realise you have to be stupid to fall for them, but it's stupid to fall for them nonetheless.

True to the meme format, the point isn't that it isn't stupid to fall for the first three. It clearly is. But falling for the fourth one is stupid, too.

(though I must admit, the selection of some of the examples is pretty weird)

[–] Glifted@lemmy.world -3 points 10 months ago (4 children)

Who likes any of them? Name me a state that isn't dripping with blood. Name me a national leader who isn't guilty.

It's either reductionist "Blame the government, not the people!" or holist "The world is at fault" with you people, you just can't bring yourself to call out Western exploitation of the Global South.

There are at least 3 settler-colonies in the last panel that, in the past and as we speak, actively commit genocide, ethnic cleansing, destabilization of Global South states and other crimes, which were created and continuously enabled by the remaining featured countries, 4 of which were former empires that continue their legacy through neocolonialism. The rest, whom benefit greatly from said neocolonialism or are direct perpetrators themselves, are comprador states practicing systemic violence and repression on those that so much as sympathize with Dewesternization and anti-imperialism, states that harbor a shit ton of Nazis and states that are happy to murder immigrants and asylum seekers escaping the violence perpetrated by said states.

In order of apperance:

EDIT: I confused Indonesia for Monaco, lmao.

[–] pinkapple@lemmy.ml 8 points 10 months ago

Don't have a specific link right now but the civilian death toll from the Japanese operations in Manchuria is most likely above 10 million. There are also several ethnic minorities in Japan that have been colonized by them relatively recently e.g. Okinawa, ehich is also secondarily occupied by a huge US base.

[–] Edie@lemmy.ml 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I think it's Indonesia, not Monaco. The flags are very similar, but the Indonesian one is slightly lighter red.

[–] Samsuma@lemmy.ml 7 points 10 months ago

oh woops, thanks for pointing that out. I guess I don't have a great resource on Indonesia either other than The Jakarta Method, so I'll just add that.

The state well always fall into the hands of the bourgeoisie.

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 7 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

yes, until we abolish capitalism for good, you can always expect the tug of war between fascism and slightly less bad neoliberalism.

[–] Estebiu@lemmy.dbzer0.com -1 points 10 months ago

My country's leader seems chill, Maia Sandu's her name. Peak president fr
