Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

SO, US troops, how ya feeling about being deployed against the citizens you supposedly swore an oath to protect?

If you follow this order, you are a cowardly bootlicking nazi traitor. Every. single. one of you.

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 63 points 10 months ago

Don't worry, the big meeting this week is the unveiling of the new Hitler oath.

Oops, I mean Hitler.

I mean Trump.

[–] Zerlyna@lemmy.world 54 points 10 months ago

This is so stupid. I’m screaming into the void , I know.

I get it, but deploying military domestically with "full force" is absolutely not a fucking distraction. It's the real deal.

[–] Tujio@lemmy.world 22 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I have to keep saying this. The Epstein files are the fucking distraction. Dismantling the world's most powerful nation is the real lede here, people.

[–] f1error@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

It’s beyond time to give the Epstein victims full justice. The files are not a distraction. Saying so is just poor judgment.

[–] meco03211@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

And with the full unredacted files, there's a chance we'd see a true fracture of the MAGA movement. That would likely put a quick stop to most of the extra stupid shenanigans.

[–] brendansimms@lemmy.world 7 points 10 months ago

Agreed. No one needs to see any "files" to know that the pres and his buddies are child raping fascists. Even if we did see them, nothing would come from it. The Justice system protects these people. No one is saving us but ourselves - get out there and build your community cause a 100billion$ gestapo force is being built right now.

I think it's both. This kind of omniscandle is so hard to react appropriately to. We all get desensitised very quickly. Imo, he's testing the water and seeing what he can get away with, increasing it in increments. I think they're testing to see which units are loyal. Even if it doesn't work out, it's a great use of "dead cat strategy."

[–] Xanthobilly@lemmy.world 13 points 10 months ago

I always agree with posting this, however this time, it’s somehow worse. This is Trump declaring war on US citizens.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 37 points 10 months ago (1 children)

He keeps hoping protesters “start” some violence.

What if we protested by giving the military milk and cookies and played games with them?

[–] LifeInMultipleChoice@lemmy.world 19 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I mean didn't they have videos of them shooting rubber bullets and throwing tear gas at non-violent protesters... It is a clear sign they are trying to make the protesters do something other than what they were doing. Protesting non-violently

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

I don't have sources but I believe National Guard and Marines have done their best to not mix it up with civilians.

Local PD and ICE, less so.

My point is — what if Trump threw a riot and no one showed up? Or, even better, the "rioters" and National Guard had a party instead, and Trump wasn't invited?

[–] Trevita17@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I thought that was the LAPD.

[–] salacious_coaster@infosec.pub 27 points 10 months ago

I feel like everyone is just playing along and waiting for someone to finally take Grandpa's keys away.

[–] bigbabybilly@lemmy.world 26 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Full force against WHAT!? WHO!?

[–] lennybird@lemmy.world 12 points 10 months ago

Full force to distract from his covering for sex trafficking Pedos?

[–] Kwyjibo1@lemmy.myserv.one 18 points 10 months ago

Trump is named in the Epstein files. Don't get distracted.

[–] merdaverse@lemmy.zip 13 points 10 months ago (2 children)

I don't know if Oregon is a blue or red state, but I can guess with high confidence after reading this

[–] running_ragged@lemmy.world 22 points 10 months ago (1 children)

I think it has a lot more to do with the urban / rural political divide. And the fact that the cities are where political unrest will begin and take root.

They’re trying to stifle it before it gets bad, or use any violence as an excuse to increase the pressure.

Also, it helps normalize having soldiers in the streets , so citizens put up with it as a new way of living.

[–] Mynameisallen@lemmy.zip 14 points 10 months ago (1 children)

What’s wild about it too is how the far right who spent decades railing against the Feds are suddenly seeming pretty cool with this. Like did folks just suddenly forget ruby ridge? Or Waco? Guys is Mcveigh not a hero anymore?? What’s happening?

[–] QuadDamage@kbin.earth 8 points 10 months ago (1 children)

They didn't, in their eyes all of this is "revenge" for for the 2020 riots and woke. That all being said, I do think the government is employing Strategy of Tension in order to make the masses screech for a surveillance state.

[–] Juice@midwest.social 2 points 10 months ago

Its ironic that the strategies that America used to terrorize Europeans into accepting NATO, are being used to terrorize Americans while dismantling NATO. That old imperial boomerang keeps coming back around

[–] kn0wmad1c@programming.dev 2 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

He will never deploy troops to a red state. Dictators don't need to re-conquer their territory

[–] Tinidril@midwest.social 4 points 10 months ago

He's already deployed troops to Tennessee.

[–] Sho@lemmy.world 12 points 10 months ago

Deploy troops to all the major blue cities? Secret impromptu meeting for the generals? Hmmmm.....something feels fishy.

[–] AlecSadler@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 10 months ago

I feel sorry for the agents being deployed to Portland that will lose their life.

Kidding, I don't. Unfortunately, I do feel bad for how that will completely cement a dictatorship.

[–] WhatGodIsMadeOf@feddit.org 4 points 10 months ago

All those troops are going to become trans if what I hear about Portland is true.
