“gonna get tired of winning”

[-] floofloof@lemmy.ca 32 points 1 year ago

Winning is tiring. It's nice of Trump to give the USA an extended break from it.

Wow, so we're not even in the top 30 when you count tied countries

[-] wjrii@lemmy.world 39 points 1 year ago

Which is really how you're supposed to present it in any ladder ranking. The top two being level on points doesn't mean you weren't third-best.

Or 35th best, apparently.

[-] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 32 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Important note: the number at the end is how many countries the passport lets you go without a visa.

[-] comrade_twisty@feddit.org 25 points 1 year ago

Funny that US ranks with Malaysia, don’t people keep mixing up the flag emojis?

[-] Bonifratz@sh.itjust.works 24 points 1 year ago

More commonly with Liberia.

[-] MrMakabar@slrpnk.net 13 points 1 year ago

US and the crescent of Islam lol

Well now I want to know who’s 11th

[-] MnemonicBump@lemmy.dbzer0.com 17 points 1 year ago

It's tied between Iceland and Lithuania

[-] azimir@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Someday the USA might be as good as Iceland or Lithuania. Of course, if it slips a bit more it'll fall behind the international diplomatic powerhouses of Romania and Bulgaria.

[-] adespoton@lemmy.ca 31 points 1 year ago

Wow… it used to be that you couldn’t go wrong with a Canadian passport, to the point where they were being heavily traded on the black market.

[-] floofloof@lemmy.ca 61 points 1 year ago

The UK passport used to give you the ability to live and work anywhere in Europe. Not any more, thanks to idiots.

[-] argh_another_username@lemmy.ca 29 points 1 year ago

I was watching a video where a guy stated that the Brazilian passports is one of the most valuable in the black market. And one of the reasons is that anyone can ‘look’ Brazilian, the country is a mix of all races. We have from Nazi Germans to Lebaneses, Nigerians and Japaneses. If I hold a passport from Singapore, people will find strange. But Brazilian, no problem.

[-] MrMakabar@slrpnk.net 18 points 1 year ago

It is also pretty strong as a passport, allowing you to travel to the EU and China.

[-] argarath@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I wonder what is the reason why the Brazilian passport isn't as accepted around the world as others, is it based on fears from drug trafficking? Is it from not wanting too many immigrants? Racism or something entirely different I'm not imagining as a possibility? There's logic behind these decisions and I'm really curious what it is

[-] Holytimes@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 year ago

Weak international relationships, trade agreements and drugs is my loose understanding. But I'm not Brazilian so I only have a faint passing understanding of Brazilian politics.

[-] cygnus@lemmy.ca 14 points 1 year ago

You probably don't want to go to the countries that won't let you in with a Canadian passport.

[-] adespoton@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 year ago

India had restrictions on Canadian passports when this report was generated; lifted now. And the EU is about to impose restrictions.

[-] krooklochurm@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

I dunno. I recently travelled to Vietnam and thought it was great. I needed to apply for a visa to go there.

I did only stay in da nang. And it was boring. But in the best possible way. My the beach is beautiful and all the Vietnamese people I met were very warm and friendly. And curious.

[-] MrMakabar@slrpnk.net 5 points 1 year ago

Canada has the best passport to travel to the US, besides an American one. European countries, Japan, Australia and similar countires need ESTA, which Canada does not need. Everybody else needs visas to enter the US. ESTA is sort of like a visa, but easier to get.

Other passports have easier travel to China and in the Middle East though.

[-] DeathByBigSad@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 year ago

This reminds me that borders are so fucking stupid.

I have a Japanese passport which is usually in the top 10. It's a cool flex and all, but it rarely matters to most of us normies because it's too expensive for us to leave the damn country and nobody can get many days off.

[-] Siegfried@lemmy.world -3 points 1 year ago

The way of measuring this is pretty stupid.
