I did my 199th parkrun and my 112 volunteer today!
parkrun has also done a video and a couple of articles about my experiences as a transgender woman within the parkrun community
So yeah, you could say I'm a fan :)
A place for runners.

ππ congrats and THANK YOU for helping to organize the events
I occasionally do a local parkrun. With two little kids, it's difficult to schedule my runs ahead of time, but when they get a little older my dream is to try as many parkruns as I can.
I returned to Parkrun last weekend having not been since 2018. It was my 20th run overall and my 3rd course (from now on it will be my "home" course since I've moved since 2018). It was under 10 degrees and quite windy with some occasional light rain but very enjoyable and helped me remember what I loved about Parkrun and road running in general. I am not big into the social aspect but always enjoy the competition with myself and the other regulars around my pace. This one seems quite popular with 125 runners despite the weather so I am really looking forward to going this weekend (I've actually been thinking about it non-stop since Sunday lol) and improving my time and overall position.
I started doing ParkRuns after I finished the couch25K as a way of keeping me engaged in running. I work away from home so not always possible as there are fewer in Europe but I still manage to get some good ones in. Itβs not a race and all abilities go and everyoneβs really friendly there are the fast ones and PBβs and thats fun too. Finally I use it as my routine timed run to see how Iβm doing, Iβm off to do one in a new place today too.
nice! enjoy! π€
I have a ParkRun in my area, but I've never been. Sounds like it would be a fun time.
I have young kiddos, and I've always wondered what would be good etiquette if I brought them along. Are strollers discouraged? Would it be rude to let a 5 year old run just part of the course (he probably can't complete a 5k)?
I've seen prams at all of my local events with varying degrees of success. You should check out the course description of your local events, it'll say something like:
parkrunners pushing buggies are welcome, but please take care of others around you and do your best to start at an appropriate place in the field for your pace.
I'd encourage you to head along, it's a blast, just be aware and respectful of those around you.
Thanks for the advice! I will definitely have to check it out soon.
If I had one Iβd definitely do it! I live in a great city for running too, but the closest Parkrun is a couple of hours away.
I ran my first one on Saturday. Very fun for all the reasons @cpamoa sums up. Also very nice to have nearly instant results and free!
There aren't all the many outside the UK and Ireland. Not sure why that is. Seems as if the US should have a bazillion of them.
I have a Parkrun almost literally right outside my front door. Literally, it's less than a 1500 m warmup jog away, along the route that is my regular running route. Unfortunately I am not a morning person, and 7am is just too early for me most weekends. Even the 9am that I hear it starts in Europe would be pushing it for me. So I've only done it a handful of times.
Damn, that's the dream right there! I thought mine was pretty decent at like 7 - 8 km away but now I feel like I'm missing out lol
