Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

‘Devastated’ family demands answers after two-year-old driven by armed agents from LA Home Depot parking lot

Masked, heavily armed federal immigration agents arrested a US citizen in the parking lot of a Los Angeles Home Depot store, then entered his car and drove away with his toddler, who is also a US citizen, in the backseat.

The child’s grandmother said the incident had left the whole family shaken. “I am devastated by what has happened to my son and demand an explanation,” she said at a press conference on Wednesday.

The 32-year-old father was picked up during a major enforcement operation at the Home Depot in LA’s Cypress Park neighborhood on Tuesday morning. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), five undocumented immigrants were also arrested.

The DHS has alleged that the 32-year-old “exited his vehicle wielding a hammer and threw rocks at law enforcement while he had a child in his car”.

I assume every single one of ICE's self-jusitfying stories is false, until proven otherwise.

Media has consistently been putting too much weight into statements and what people say as if it were facts.

Ok, so their claim is that he's a hero? Got it.

It's always been like that.

Nice way of saying kidnap.

“Surely there is a better way of enforcing their policies in a way that does not separate families or place tender aged children like this child in questionable circumstances,” said Renee Garcia, the communications director at the legal aid nonprofit ImmDef. “I think that it’s absolutely traumatizing for a child to be placed in that situation.”

Oh, there is a better way. But the cruelty is the point so you will only ever see this way and worse from this administration.

Pedophilia has gotten way worse, I see. Better track that child.

watched a video yesterday of agents going into a god damn daycare and pulling out a caregiver who was screaming. a god damn daycare.

all the while people are standing by filming and I just felt an incredible amount of rage at watching it. I'm not even american and I was angry. This poor woman was screaming and crying and being dragged out of a fucking daycare centre begging for her life.

If I were a parent and I saw either of these things happening first hand I would go ballistic. And with all the stories going around now of people posing as ICE agents to rob and sexually assault women how do I know these fuckers arn't one of them?

it blows my mind that there's no body count on ice agents yet. I'm honestly surprised no one has shot at them.

I’m sure ice agents are also sexually assaulting women with impunity

I'm asserting right now, that those are all ICE agents. How else could they be wearing official ICE uniforms? ICE can be accused of every crime committed in the US by a person wearing a mask, until they can confirm the whereabouts of every one of their agents at all times. Or until they change their uniforms.

I’d be honestly going insane if I was that father

[–] anarchiddy@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 9 months ago (1 children)

I realize this is a weird thing to get caught up on, but I'm gonna guess they didnt have a car seat for that toddler, and that enrages me almost as much as their mere existence

[–] village604@adultswim.fan 7 points 9 months ago

They drove off in the guy's car, not an ICE vehicle.
