Am I wrong in thinking it's better that it doesn't show up in google result? Of course it sucks that it is deliberately hidden, but I feel like it will help the site staying under the radar from unwanted attention. People who put a slight effort to find it will still be able to find it.

same reason i wonder why some anime/movie websites i use urge their users to share stuff about it to others. Just keep your head down damn it, so I dont have to constantly search for new decent websites.

What's really weird is that the byline(?) says this article was published "today", when I saw this exact same headline more than a week ago.

  • updated today (by me, a bot, I just touched the file and it's good as new)

Annas Archive is better using their own in site search function anyway. I'm okay with this if it reduces AA legal exposure and just remains sort of an "open" secret

Fuck Sundar Pichai. A gigantic cowardly asshole.

The problem being...? Lots of alternative search engines out there and if you already know Anna's archive, just use that to search for stuff.

[–] melroy@kbin.melroy.org 12 points 9 months ago (1 children)

No it's called censorship.

[–] Engywuck@lemmy.zip 0 points 9 months ago (2 children)

A private company deciding what to show (and what no to) is not censorship, mate.

[–] Bronzebeard@lemmy.zip 0 points 8 months ago

It can still be called censorship, even if not done by a government. It's just that one isn't explicitly illegal.

[–] cupcakezealot@piefed.blahaj.zone 2 points 9 months ago (2 children)

don't most alternative search engines just use google or bing as a source?

[–] Engywuck@lemmy.zip 6 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Just use Yandex if you want to search for somewhat shady stuff.

[–] melroy@kbin.melroy.org 2 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Some may call it shady. I call it Linux ISOs. Damn capitalism.

[–] Engywuck@lemmy.zip 2 points 9 months ago

Call it whatever you want, as long as you can get it! Be pragmatic!

Most but not all. Kagi doesn't.
