tldr: any advice for ingame controls with an android tablet?

Hey, last time i played ED was about 4 years ago and i remember using an android app named panels for a custom button layout usable via an browser. Since time went by and a lot of data loss happened, i’m on a search for an proper android control panel.

At the moment i’m looking at gameglass but i dislike the whole payment and account thing. Also GIC (Gaming Interface Client) from Terence-D looks promising but it’s 2 years since the last update and i haven’t found any good layouts.

Are you guys using something like this or have any tips where to look? Anyway thanks for your time reading this^^

Have a nice day, cheers

Edit: After looking and trying around for 3 days i came to a conclusion:

Game Glass: is the easiest to install and offers 2 layouts for free. BUT you need an Account, it's not running locally (privacy concern) and it's only subsciption based not buyforlife. For my taste the layouts so called shards are a little bit too busy.

EDDiscovery: easy to install and have everything your hearth may desire. You can use it on the same device or locally via browser. But for myself it's overkill in any way and the remote controls feels clunky and not so nice. Totally recommending this for everyone at least to try.

Macro-Deck: free and open-source, easy to install and use but i'm still figuring out how to set up all the buttons. Has also a web client (sadly atm still need internet for client-id but it's on the todo list), a handful of good plugins, it's definitely worth a look. And the best of all, it's not abondonware. This is my pick for now.

Macro-Deck

This https://macrodeck.org/ ?

Looks interesting. Think I'll keep that bookmarked 👍

Yepp that's the one. The GitHub link on the front page isn't working but the one under the download button, https://github.com/Macro-Deck-App/Macro-Deck

I noticed the same. There was another Github link on the lower left though and that worked xD

Have a look at EDCopilot Amongst all the other things it can do it also has a ship control panel. You'll need to use it in conjunction with SpaceDesk I know nothing of SpaceDesk just found out about it when checking the EDCopilot Discord.

EDCopilot looks promising but SpaceDesk is the limiting part here, checked some other solutions but i think i will stick to MacroDeck. If you like EDCopilte you may check EDDiscovery also^^ Thanks anyway^^

Thanks but I tried touch portal yesterday and wasn't allowed to import custom panels without buying it. Thank you anyway ^^

Ah well, was worth a shot. Also building my own 🤓

Before building my own switch panels I used this: https://www.leaextendedinput.com/ Worked pretty well and is very customizable.

You're building your own? Please do show off in https://discuss.tchncs.de/c/diysimulators so I don't feel all alone there any more 🤓

Thank you for your reply. Do you know if this tool supports web-based controls? Like local hosted website with the controls? It looks like the app is discontinued or outdated... Even android 10 is "too new" thank you anyway
