Oh, German automakers are way ahead of the curve in this regard.

Volkswagon literally translates to 'peoples car', they literally make cars out of people.

Not much chance

President Trump is set to announce a rollback of fuel economy standards that were tightened under the Biden administration, aiming to reduce vehicle costs and increase consumer choice.

Iโ€™m certain China will thank him. They will continue to improve EVs while the United States goes back a few decades. ๐Ÿ™„

"Reducing vehicle costs" lmao?

Cars this big are WAY more expensive, especially on fuel.

[-] redlemace@lemmy.world 10 points 9 months ago

Yes, That's why trump's pedecesors pushed towards fuel economy

Yeah, and even with all that, those megacars are still bad and too energyslurping.

I prefer that they be converted to scrap. Keyed, wheels locked, anything.

Keep those SPCVโ€™s (small-penis-compensation vehicles) off our roads! https://youtu.be/--832LV9a3I

All those big, hated parking companies should really lobby against this. They'll have to rebuild most of the parking houses and repaint/mark all the parking lots to make room for these monstrosities. That would cost them quite a lot and result in fewer spaces. ๐Ÿซฃ

They wouldn't, it would be self regulating. If you can't park (for example in an underground garage) you can't shop at your fav store. Usually the only other viable parking in the big cities is blocks aways. People would catch on quickly.

[-] luciferofastora@feddit.org 3 points 9 months ago

But you can park. You just can't park reasonably, so you'll take up two spaces and half the driveway, but you can park.

[-] MrPoletki@feddit.uk 1 points 9 months ago

No they wont. They can just fine them for parking over the edge of the marked parking space. Just need to add a disclaimer that if your car doesn't fit, tough shit.

[-] RedGreenBlue@lemmy.zip 4 points 9 months ago

Let's not do that.

[-] SaveTheTuaHawk@lemmy.ca 4 points 9 months ago

Hard to imagine Europeans will buy these tanks at $7.50 a gallon for gas, narrow roads and very tight parking spaces, even for subcompacts.

[-] mugthol@lemmy.blahaj.zone 8 points 9 months ago

There are already way too many pickup trucks here

[-] Kennystillalive@feddit.org 2 points 9 months ago

In Switzerland there are already too many of them... it's super annyoing on the safety deparment (light way too high up, limited field of view etc) + there is no space for them. Our roads where not made for these monsters.
