“A 25% tax on gas exports would solve the gas crisis. It would cut energy bills, ensure there is enough gas for Australians. It would also provide $17 billion annually for better housing, health care, education and childcare,” said Mark Ogge, Principal Advisor to The Australia Institute.

Is the rest of Australia really not aware of WA's Domestic Gas reserve? In short: 15% of gas extracted in WA is reserved for the people of WA. As a result, our power bills are a bit under 25c/kwh + ~$1/day supply.

Yeah, a different way to achieve a similar goal that has been bipartisan policy for a decade. I'd forgotten it exists tbh.

long overdue but unfortunately the corps pay the politicians so i think it’s unlikely we’ll see anything that might introduce ‘sovereign risk’ oh my!
